An infamous Virginia county continued putting its citizens last as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of a convicted sex offender thrice released from custody.
Between the classrooms where they are confronted with alphabet activism to their sanctuary city neighborhoods where they are at risk from violent illegal aliens, it appeared the safety of children was far from a priority of officials in Fairfax County, Virginia.
While bureaucrats in the deep blue area did what they could to stifle law and order, police and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) had their work cut out for them, including with the recent arrest of 36-year-old Bolivian national, Jose Fabricio Veizaga-Vargas.
Arrested by ERO Washington, D.C. in Annandale, Virginia on Aug. 19, the alien who had illegally entered the U.S. through El Paso, Texas in April 2023 had previously been arrested three times and released as many times in a matter of weeks despite being convicted of sexually assaulting a child.
“Jose Fabricio Veizaga-Vargas is a convicted sex offender who victimized a minor in Northern Virginia,” said ERO Washington, D.C., Field Office Director Liana Castano in a statement. “We cannot allow such an obvious danger to threaten the children of our community. ERO Washington, D.C., will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen offenders from our Washington, D.C., and Virginia neighborhoods.”

After initially being caught and released by the Biden-Harris administration with a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge, ERO Washington, D.C. detailed Veizaga-Vargas was arrested on May 3. On July 15, he was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault of a child aged 13 to 14, but his six-month jail sentence was suspended and the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center refused to honor the immigration detainer filed by ERO Washington, D.C.
Immigration detainers aim to have the agency notified before release and for the retention of the suspect to be maintained for up to 48 hours for ICE to assume custody. On Aug. 8, another arrest was made of the convict who was charged with a misdemeanor DWI and released again by the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center which refused the immigration detainer.
A week later, Fairfax County Police arrested Veizaga-Vargas on Aug. 15 and charged him with seven counts of possession of child pornography and possession of obscene material with a minor only to have the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center refuse a third immigration detainer, releasing the convict again on Aug. 16.
Previous reports indicated that the lone Republican supervisor for Fairfax County, Pat Herrity, had been demanding an end to the laws protecting dangerous illegal aliens after two foreign nationals were pegged as suspects in a murder.
“We need to keep violent offenders in jail or get them out of this country,” he had told 7News.
“You clearly got Sheriff Chapman doing it and keeping his community safe,” he’d said of the Loudoun County official who promptly notified ICE of the arrest of illegal aliens. “I think our residents expect the same from our sheriff. I think they’re failing their duty. Because when you’ve got repeat violent offenders being released into our community, whether that’s by the magistrates, whether that’s by the Commonwealth’s attorney, or whether that’s by the sheriff, that’s just unacceptable.”
Veizaga-Vargas’ arrest comes amid a flurry of similar arrests of illegal aliens, all of whom had been released into the country under the current administration as Vice President Kamala Harris endeavored to distance herself from responsibilities as the “border czar.”
