KC Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has a message for ‘fellow Catholic’ JD Vance

Harrison Butker may have the Kansas City Chiefs logo on his helmet but he wears his religious beliefs on his sleeve, and he called for GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) to take a stronger stand against abortion.

The three-time Super Bowl winner appeared to differ from former President Donald J. Trump who said on Truth Social that his “administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights,” shooting down the Democrat hoax that he intends a national ban on abortions.

In a Friday post to X, the NFL’s highest-paid kicker urged his “fellow Catholic” to help defend the unborn.

“No party or candidate is perfect. I implore my fellow Catholic @JDVance to help bring the Republican Party back in line with the foundational platform that all life is valuable and there can be no compromise when it comes to defending the unborn,” Butker wrote.

He added a quote from Catholic priest and theologian Father Chad Ripperger that, “Our obligation is to vote for the lesser of two evils because voting for a lesser evil preserves the good that could be potentially lost.”

The devoutly religious Butker was thrust into the political arena earlier this year when leftists went berserk over his speech to graduating students at Catholic liberal arts school Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas in May during which he called out “degenerate cultural values” and specifically named President Joe Biden, suggesting that the now-lame duck leader was a hypocrite.

“Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally,” he said, referring to Biden’s use of the traditional Catholic gesture before and after prayer during a pro-abortion address by failed Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried, now the state’s Democratic Party chairwoman.

Refusing to bow to the braying left-wing mob that was demanding that he be kicked off the team, the Chiefs instead rewarded Butker with a four-year $25.6 million contract extension with $17.75 million fully guaranteed, making him the top-paid kicker in the league.

Butker and his Kansas City teammates will go for three championships in a row this year, something never done in the modern Super Bowl era, and will kick off their title defense in a nationally televised Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
