‘Border czar’ Kamala Harris says crisis ‘going rather smoothly’ but it’s not even her responsibility

While tens of thousands of illegal migrants move on the U.S. border with Mexico following the end of Title 42, the pandemic-era policy that kept asylum-seekers out, the nation’s “Border Czar” says things are “going rather smoothly.”

Vice President Kamala Harris was in Georgia on Friday, attending a fundraiser, when a Channel 2 Action News reporter read to her a statement from the Georgia GOP.

“It’s deplorable that the Vice President is coming to Atlanta for a fundraiser campaigning while the border crisis is overflowing and we have out-of-control inflation,” the Republicans said.

Never mind the drone footage showing an enormous tent encampment on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande. Forget about the fact that kids have nearly drowned trying to swim to Brownsville, Texas. Ignore the fact that Brandon Judd, president of a union for Border Patrol agents, said that more than 10,000 migrants were caught crossing at the U.S.-Mexico border illegally each day on Monday and Tuesday or that cities across America are declaring emergencies in the wake of the highest levels of illegal immigration on record.

Everything is fine, according to Harris.

“You know, I hear that everything in the last couple days is going rather smoothly, given what the concerns were,” she said.

And then she passed the buck.

“The bottom line, however, is that this issue of immigration falls squarely within the responsibility of the United States Congress,” she stated.

What Harris failed to mention is that Democrats in Congress have refused to consider a Republican bill that would tighten border security.

As American Wire News reported, House Republicans proposed a package that would force asylum seekers to apply for U.S. protection before they enter the States. Under the proposal, the construction of former President Donal Trump’s infamous wall would resume, and federal law enforcement efforts would be expanded.

Democrats made clear they would block the bill in the Senate.

What’s more, the White House blew it off.

“While we welcome Congress’ engagement on meaningful steps to address immigration and the challenges at the border, this bill would make things worse, not better,” a statement from the White House Office of Management and Budget reads. “Because this bill does very little to actually increase border security while doing a great deal to trample on the nation’s core values and international obligations, it should be rejected.”

Meanwhile, things are not so smooth at Harris’s home.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is once again dropping off busloads of migrants at the door of her D.C. residence.

To date, Abbott has sent more than 9,200 illegal immigrants to D.C. in protest of the Biden administration’s border policies.

“We will continue to provide this critical support to our overwhelmed Texas border towns until Biden secures the border,” the governor stated.

On Twitter, Harris’s comments were met with outrage.

“She is giving the middle finger to the American people,” stated one user.

“Meaning they planned the chaos and it’s going as planned,” deduced another. “Copy.”

“They think if they say it enough,” noted a third, “we’ll believe it.”
