A Massachusetts middle school student mic dropped a school board meeting after alleging he was sent home for refusing to change his shirt that countered leftist ideologues with five words.
“Yes — words on a shirt made people feel unsafe.”
The incident was said to have occurred at Nichols Middle School in Middleborough, Massachusetts in March and was later raised at the April 13 school committee meeting where 12-year-old Liam Morrison recounted the “uncomfortable talk” two adults made him sit through because of a shirt that read, “There are only two genders.”
In the video shared by Libs of TikTok, the boy can be heard explaining, “I never thought that the shirt I wore to school on March 21 would lead me to speak with you today. On that Tuesday morning, I was taken out of gym class to sit down with two adults for what turned out to be a very uncomfortable talk.”
“I was told that people were complaining about the words on my shirt, that my shirt was making some students feel unsafe. Yes — words on a shirt made people feel unsafe. They told me that I wasn’t in trouble, but it sure felt like I was,” he noted.
Morrison went on to allege that he would only be permitted to return to class if he changed his shirt, a request he refused leading to his father, whom supported the boy’s decision, being called to the school to take him home for the day.
“I have been told that my shirt was targeting a protected class. Who is this protected class? Are their feelings more important than my rights?” he rhetorically asked the committee. “I don’t complain when I see pride flags and diversity posters hung throughout the school; do you know why? Because others have a right to their beliefs just as I do.”
“There. Are. Only. Two. Genders,” Morrison described the shirt. “Nothing harmful. Nothing threatening. Just a statement I believe to be a fact.”
The student made sure to note that not a single peer or teacher had reacted to his shirt prior to his being pulled aside despite claims he was a disruption. By contrast, he noted actual disruptions were often ignored.
“I feel like these adults were telling me that it wasn’t okay for me to have an opposing view,” he went on before slamming, “Their arguments were weak in my opinion.”

That shirt might snap kids out of their indoctrination. Teachers cant have that.

Morrison also said that it had been a learning experience for him specifying, “I learned that a lot of other students share my view. I learned that adults don’t always do the right thing or make the right decisions.”

Since the incident, the New Boston Post reported that the Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI), and organization that has worked to protect student rights in the face of leftist gender ideology, has notified the school district’s superintendent, Carolyn Lyons, that Morrison would be wearing the shirt to school again on May 5 and any repeat of the March 21 incident would lead to legal action.
A spokesman told the Post, “Massachusetts Family Institute is grateful for young students like Liam who aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Some people may like what Liam’s shirt said, and others may dislike it. But the point is that under our Constitution, he has the right to say it. Without voices like Liam’s, kids in public school are only hearing one side of the important discussion about gender identity. That’s why MFI is proud to support Liam in standing up against his school’s disregard for his right to free speech.”
Prior to MFI’s April 27 letter, Lyons had appeared to take the side of silencing Morrison’s opinion as her statement on April 13 said in part, “Today, our children were caught in the crossfire of a debate that doesn’t belong at their feet. It doesn’t belong at their schoolhouse. This is unacceptable to me. Our children deserve the right to go to school in a safe and supportive environment.”
