Brooklyn Bridge shut down by pro-Hamas mob as anti-Semitism rages in NYC

Thousands of pro-Hamas protesters took to the streets in a show of force in New York City on Saturday, waving Palestinian flags and marching in a column across the Brooklyn Bridge which was temporarily closed down.

On a day when mass protests took place in Europe, the intimidating mob of anti-Israel activists made their presence felt in the Big Apple, the home to the largest Jewish community in the United States, where they demanded an end to the military offensive in Gaza three weeks after Hamas terrorists massacred over 1,300 Israelis, including women and children who were butchered in their own homes.

The organized demonstration began in the afternoon in front of the Brooklyn Museum, marched to the Barclay Center, and soon made its way to the iconic bridge, shutting down traffic with a few of the participants clambering to the top to display the Palestinian flag.

“Protest Activity: All lanes on the Brooklyn Bridge are closed in both directions,” the NYC Emergency Management Department posted to X, the platform previously known as Twitter. “Consider alternate routes.”

“Freedom by any means, land back by any means,” one young protester from Queens told the New York Post. “I believe the settler state of Israel must be taken down.”

Another protester, identified as a native of Puerto Rico told the outlet, “I’m in support of the solidarity of the Palestinian people because the genocide of now, I mean, there’s been so many times I can push you before you push back right?”

Protesters also carried signs reading “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free,” a mantra of leftists that has been interpreted as a call for the end of Israel’s existence,  “F**k Israel, Justice Palestine,” and “Zionism is Terrorism,” some participants plastered anti-Israel stickers on the fronts of businesses.

Footage of the anti-Israel mob’s massive turnout was posted to X.

The shutdown of the major transportation artery was the second time in two days that left-wing activists sought to make their point by inconveniencing ordinary New Yorkers. On Friday evening, an organized mob invaded Grand Central Station to demand a ceasefire as Israel ramps up its ground operation against the Hamas terror organization.

“I’m here because we can’t stand in the face of genocide and not do anything,” 44-year-old Brooklynite Hala Boustany told the New York Daily News during Saturday’s protests. “We need to take a stand for the policies to change. People are dying every single moment and nothing is happening while we are going on with our regular lives.”
