Capitol Police chief tells Tucker what really happened on Jan 6th in riveting hour

It’s the Tucker Carlson interview every Fox News viewer was waiting for, but never got to see — until now.

Carlson was pulled from the air before America was able to hear what former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund had to say about the explosive events of January 6, 2021. But, like Obi-Wan Kenobi, when Fox News struck Carlson down, he moved to Elon Musk’s X and became more powerful than any cable network show could possibly imagine — and on Thursday, with the 15th episode of “Tucker on Twitter,” he proved it.

“Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund reveals what really happened on January 6th,” Carlson posted. “Our Fox News interview with him never aired, so we invited him back.”


“What he has to say is shocking,” Carlson told viewers. “We recommend you watch.”

What followed was more than 50 uninterrupted minutes of narrative-busting bombshells.

Take, for example, the intelligence Sund received about potential problems in the days leading up to Jan. 6.

“It would seem logical that you would have the most intelligence, the most up-to-date, most accurate intelligence about what was likely to happen that day because you’re consulting with all kinds of other agencies — intel agencies, law enforcement agencies — lots of federal agencies,” Carlson said, “but it doesn’t sound like you did have the most information about what was going to happen.”

“You’re absolutely correct,” Sund replied, calling the difference between what “we had coming into it” and what we now know was available at the time, “night and day.”

While the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and even the U.S. military were “swimming” in intelligence about planned violent attacks on the Capitol, Sund’s police officers, and members of Congress, Sund says the intelligence he was getting indicated it “was going to be just like the previous MAGA rallies.”

“Think about it,” Sund said. “I’m the chief of police at the United States Capitol, probably one of the most prominent and should be the most secure building in the United States — in the world.”

And yet, according to Sund, the “FBI, the Washington field office, didn’t put out a single document, a single official document specific to January 6. DHS didn’t put out a single official document specific to January 6. That’s very unusual.”

It turns out, according to Sund, that Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley had discussed “locking down the city of Washington D.C.” and “revoking permits on Capitol Hill because of the concern for violence.”

“You know who issues the permits on Capitol Hill for demonstrations? I do,” Sund stated. “You know who wasn’t told? Me.”

“Instead, on January 4th, what does Miller do? He puts out a memo restricting the National Guard from carrying the various weapons — any weapons, any Civil Disobedience equipment — that would be utilized for the very demonstrations or violence that he sees coming,” Sund said. “It just doesn’t make any sense.”

As a result, when Sund “was calling, begging for assistance” from the Guard in Virginia and Maryland on January 6th, “they weren’t allowed to respond at first.”

“It’s almost like they wanted the intelligence to be watered down for some reason,” Sund said.

Over a period of 71 minutes, Sund says he made 32 calls, desperately trying to get assistance, but “optics” got in the way.

“I’m looking at my men and women having their asses handed to them,” he said, describing a situation in which he made “call after call after call after call” and was forced to wait for his pleas to be “run up the chain” to then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for approval to bring in the National Guard to defend the Capitol.

When it came time for the notorious Jan. 6 hearings, Sund said Rep. Benny Thompson (D-Miss.) warned that “Speaker Pelosi is off limits” so the so-called investigators “wouldn’t get any of her records or phone records.”

Former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving, who “was extremely loyal to Nancy Pelosi” repeatedly denied Sund’s request for the National Guard “even though he apparently — or certainly, federal agencies had — intel suggesting this was going to be a bigger than normal protest and could be violent,” Carlson emphasized.

“Absolutely,” Sund replied.

On X, many found it difficult to reach any conclusion other than very powerful people — people who could have prevented what they would later insist was the worst attack on our nation since Pearl Harbor — allowed the violence at the Capitol on January 6th to happen.

“Jaw dropping and quiet honestly everything you ever wanted or needed to know about J6,” wrote one user on X. “I don’t care what side you’re on. Just proves our government has been hijacked and we’re under attack like we’ve never been attacked before.”

“The FBI with the help of Nancy Pelosi orchestrated Jan 6,” stated another.
