Charlamagne Tha God: ‘Kamala needs to answer questions from black people’

Charlamagne Tha God, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, says Vice President Kamala Harris has to answer questions from black voters. Conveniently for him, he wants to interview the Democratic nominee again — Charlamagne interviewed her on “The Breakfast Club” in 2019.

Make no mistake, the radio personality is on the Harris-Walz bandwagon, but he said during an appearance on News Nation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports that the vice president “needs to answer questions from everybody.”

“She needs to answer questions from black people,” he said. “But I’ve been telling folks, you know, since the [Democratic National Convention], like, excitement with — excitement within the party is great, and I’m glad that Democrats are enthused, but I don’t believe Democrat excitement and Democrat excitement alone is going to win this election.

“And she knows that. That’s why she’s on the road the way that she is now — she knows she has to hit all those swing states and explain herself to the American people,” he added.

The Democratic ticket has been busy on the campaign trail, but there have been few questions answered — the Harris campaign has been hiding the candidate in plain sight, avoiding interviews and news conferences. On Thursday, Harris sat down for the first time since being installed as President Biden’s replacement with CNN propagandist Dana Bash.

Here’s how that softball interview went:

Interestingly, Charlamagne declared that Trump “don’t want to be there no more, man. You can hear it in his voice.”

“I don’t think that he is even thinking about, you know, making America great again, or making the country great again. That might have been something he was thinking in 2016, 2020, but now, when you know, you’re facing all the criminal charges that he’s facing. You know, there was an assassination attempt on his life,” he said.

“Anybody that’s ever dealt with trauma, you know that — you know you just try to stay busy. And you know, his busy isn’t just in, you know, staying busy to avoid dealing with the trauma. It’s staying busy to avoid, you know, potentially … going to jail,” Charlamagne continued. “So, I don’t even think his mind — there’s no way his mind can be on, you know, running a campaign or running a country.”
