‘Climate Czar’ John Kerry squirms in hot seat over ‘wife-owned’ private jet

“Climate Czar” John Kerry testified in front of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday and was caught up in his apparently false claim that he never owned a private jet when grilled over it and stonewalled questions over exactly who was on his staff.

“Whatever your stance on global warming, the extent to which it is man-made or in man’s (in particular America’s) gift to solve it, there is one thing that everybody can agree on. Nobody likes a hypocrite,” Douglas Murray summed it up succinctly in reference to John Kerry in an op-ed in the New York Post.

Kerry raised the issue of his purported private jet himself, dismissing claims that he flies around the world and calling it a “persistent lie.”

“I don’t own a private jet,” Kerry fibbed, parsing his words carefully while engaging in his version of plausible deniability. “I’ve personally never owned a private jet.”

Murray pointed out that Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) noted that the climate Czar’s family sold their private jet in February of this year after accusations of climate hypocrisy, rendering Kerry’s claim far less than truthful.

After Waltz challenged his statement, Kerry suddenly had an epiphany, “My wife owned a plane.”

“Here’s the issue,” Waltz told Kerry. “This isn’t some kind of partisan gotcha. When we are asking Americans to make serious sacrifices, as we transition, for the common good and your family and/or yourself are flying around on private jets, that smacks of hypocrisy. It actually hurts your cause.”

“John Kerry is preaching climate change while he & his family fly on private jets,” Waltz tweeted. “That smacks of hypocrisy as he’s asking everyday Americans to make sacrifices.”

According to Fox News, “The plane was registered to Flying Squirrel LLC, a charter company owned by Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz-Kerry, and in which Kerry reported owning a more than $1 million stake on past financial disclosures.”

“However, one month after the Fox News Digital report that highlighted the jet’s extensive carbon footprint, and after lawmakers blasted Kerry for apparent hypocrisy, the Gulfstream jet was sold to an energy-focused hedge fund in New York City. Whitney Smith, a State Department spokesperson, confirmed the sale in a statement this year and said Kerry travels commercially in his current role,” the media outlet continued.

“Whether it was his jet or his wife’s jet is missing the forest through the trees. John Kerry is an unelected bureaucrat who’s making decisions that have major impacts on the lives of Americans, the overwhelming majority of whom are going to be more worried about the cost of gas to drive their cars to work, not the cost of fuel to fly a jet to King Charles’ coronation,” Republican Florida Rep. Brian Mast told Fox News Digital in an interview.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) also slammed Kerry over the plane.

He doesn’t own one but he sure does use one!” Biggs tweeted.

Kerry also got his fur ruffled when he was quizzed on exactly who was on his staff by Mast who used a chart depicting the Democrat’s office and asked him to fill in the blanks.

“For the last two and a half years in the role all we knew is that John Kerry has a budget of $16.7 million a year to run his Czar-dom. Nobody knows how many staff he actually has working for him, but his ‘proposed staff’ is 45 people,” Murray wrote. “Which Kerry’s office has pointed out is the same size as the office set up to defeat ISIS. Not the best comparison to make.”

“I would love to know the names of the individuals that actually answer to you,” Mast told to Kerry during the hearing. “Who is your deputy envoy for climate?”

An obviously furious Kerry bristled at answering Masts’ questions. He reluctantly provided the names of two deputies, Rick Duke and Sue Biniaz, calling Biniaz “one of the most experienced negotiators in the world.” But that’s as far as he would go and refused to provide any other names.

“You’re not going to tell us who’s working at your office?” Mast asked.

“I’m not going to go through them name by name,” Kerry arrogantly stated.

“According to the records, Kerry was not due to have to explain details of his activities, staff, titles or pay until October 2024. Otherwise known as the month before the next election. So his being held to account yesterday must have come as a deep shock to him,” Murray’s New York Post op-ed noted.

“He had been expecting to sign this country up to international treaties, jet around the world handing away American sovereignty on the global stage and promising things that would considerably impoverish the average American household,” the author continued. “And all without ever having to face any questions. Pity the poor man. He almost made it.”
