CNN poll showing 60% support for Trump arrest is ‘as fake as Biden’s White House playset’, says Boebert

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado managed to strike two blows with one tweet as she deftly called out President Joe Biden’s administration and “fake news” CNN for a new poll regarding former President Donald Trump’s indictment.

As evidenced by the gaggle of press that lined Fifth Avenue in New York City to cover the indicted president’s arrival at Trump Tower Monday, corporate media has been behaving like sharks in chummed water. This was further demonstrated by CNN conducting a low-information poll to gauge public opinion over the charges without those respondents seeming to know all the facts.

“We went into the field and did this new exclusive CNN poll conducted by SSRS just after the indictment, and look at the results here,” the network’s political director David Chalian told Wolf Blitzer on Monday’s “The Situation Room.”

“Sixty percent of Americans approve of the indictment of Donald Trump. Forty percent disapprove,” he went on.

Boebert took to Twitter to respond to the poll results and snarked, “CNN’s poll claiming 60% of Americans approve of Trump’s indictment is as fake as Biden’s White House play set.”

The congresswoman’s slam played out even in CNN’s coverage of the opinion poll as the first claim that Chalian made about going “into the field” was laughable as the release clearly stated, “The study was conducted for CNN via text message…”

A closer look emphasized the sleight of hand the network was pulling as the 60 percent approval was divided with only 37 percent “strongly” aligned and 23 percent “somewhat.”

That 37 percent was an important figure as it just so happened to match the total percentage of respondents who believe “Trump’s actions regarding payments to Stormy Daniels,” were illegal.

Furthermore, 58 percent said off the bat that they held an unfavorable opinion of Trump and Chalian pointed out the partisan split on indictment approval when he said, “As you might suspect, 94 percent of Democrats, nearly universal on the Democratic side, approve.”

He then attempted to bolster the weight from non-affiliated respondents and noted, “But, 62 percent of independents, that’s a big number for the critical voting bloc in the middle there — and even one in five Republicans approve of the indictment.”

However, the independents were nearly equally divided between “strongly” and “somewhat” approving at 32 and 30 percent respectively.

The most striking detail from the poll may have been the fact that only about half of respondents claimed to be familiar with corporate media’s portrayal of the indictment, while 43 percent said they had only heard a little about it, and six percent admitted to knowing nothing.

In other words, the most accurate thing CNN’s poll managed to determine was that to the public, the indictment was against Trump himself, not any supposed wrongdoing, thus supporting the president’s point that the was being politically persecuted.
