CNN’s Dana Bash raises nightmare election scenario — Todd Blanche fires back: ‘That is crazy!’

Attorney General Todd Blanche wasn’t about to entertain a CNN anchor’s “doomsday scenario” election question.

He joined CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, where he shot down conspiracy theories that President Donald Trump is making an Alaska election “political” and fears that he will try to “overturn the election” if he doesn’t agree with the results.

Host Dana Bash kicked off the conversation by referring to a Truth Social post the president made Saturday evening, which accuses Democrats of trying to “steal” an Alaskan seat.

Look:

“The Republicans’ Worst Senator, by far, Lisa Murkowski, of the Great State of Alaska (A State for which I produced, on a continuing basis, Billions and Billions of Dollars, and which Crooked Joe Biden and the Dumocrats had totally shut down — Then I came back, and delivered even more!), who only got elected because of Corrupt Ranked Choice Voting, is upset because I revealed what everyone knows, that the Ranked Choice Voting Ballot is a TOTAL DEMOCRAT SCAM meant to confuse the Voter, so that Senator Dan Sullivan will lose Votes to a man who has never participated in Politics before, named Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr. He is only there because the Democrats want to steal the Election, and Murkowski probably wants that to happen, which is why she is against the DOJ filing a Lawsuit in order to stop this impending crime and tragedy,” he wrote.

“I have delivered for Alaska at Historic Levels, nobody has ever seen anything like it, and all I’m asking for is a FAIR AND HONEST SENATORIAL ELECTION! Lisa Murkowski is a DISGRACE to Alaska and our Country. You just don’t get any worse! I hope the Great People of Alaska understand what is happening. The Democrats are trying to steal this important Republican Seat and, if that happens, everything we’ve done for Alaska will come to an immediate halt. VOTE ‘YES’ AGAINST RANKED CHOICE VOTING, on Ballot Measure 2. SAVE ALASKA!” Trump added.

Bash used this context to ask about the Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuit that would effectively prevent Alaska from certifying the Senate race of Democrat Mary Peltola as long as Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. remains on the ballot.

“He’s admitting it’s political. Do you see your job as helping Republicans keep the seat?” Bash asked Blanche.

“He’s not admitting it’s political!” the attorney general snapped. “Wait, you’re saying that a president’s saying that there’s something improper happening at the ballots is necessarily political?! He’s the executive. He’s supposed to make sure that there is everything in this country is running right.”

Later in the discussion, the CNN host cited fears that this could be the beginning of Trump trying to overturn election results that aren’t to his liking.

“Let’s just talk turkey, because one of the big questions is whether or not the president is laying the groundwork for a scenario where, whether it’s Alaska or somewhere else, there is, in your words a couple of days ago, a ‘doomsday scenario,’ and we could be in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election. And the result of that could be, God forbid, what we saw after January 6th,” she said.

“Oh, stop it! You’ve gotta stop it with that! You are not being a real person! Come on, man, that is crazy!” Blanche said.

“It is not crazy!” Bash shot back.

“Because the Department of Justice is concerned that there is an absolute fraud happening in Alaska, and [Trump] wants to do something about it, you’re saying, ‘Mr. Attorney General, because a President of the United States wants to stop a fraud and confusion in Alaska, is he going to do something crazy?’ That is not a real question!” Blanche asserted.

“I wish it wasn’t. I wish it wasn’t. But if you’re laying the groundwork to the president to try to overturn an election that he doesn’t like, there is-” Bash said before Blanche jumped in.

“We’re not laying any groundwork for the president to do that! So your premise, your question, is not true!” he said. “What I said is the groundwork that we are laying is for Alaska, for the state of Alaska, if it becomes an issue after the election, will have the ability to determine whether there was confusion that violates the law in determining who the senator should be. That is not Donald J. Trump; that is not our president.”
