Comedian Dave Chappelle mocks Charlie Kirk supporters in new Netflix special

Comedian Dave Chappelle’s latest comedy special included a mention of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

During the special, which was filmed in Washington, D.C., Chappelle cracked a controversial joke about how “whites” reacted following Kirk’s public assassination. He ripped the comparisons between Kirk and Martin Luther King Jr., who was also killed “in a terrible fashion.”

Watch:

“And the whites were quick to say this, they said, ‘Charlie Kirk is this generation’s Martin Luther King.’ Noooo, he’s noooooot,” the comedian said, puffing on a cigarette while the crowd applauded. “That’s a reach. They both got murdered in a terrible fashion. They both got shot in the neck, but that’s about where those similarities ended.”

“Charlie Kirk is a motherf**king Internet personality — by design. Fundamentally, he can’t function like Dr. King. Internet n***as are negative because they have to be. Because nobody will engage them unless they say sh*t that makes them upset. That’s Charlie Kirk,” Chappelle continued. “Can you imagine if Dr. King was behaving like Charlie Kirk? ‘Smash that like button and subscribe! Follow me for more content like this! I believe all black people should be free, change my mind!’”

The bit received mixed reviews on X:
