Dem governor turns on Biden, releases proof of deal to tap pro-life judge day before Roe was overturned

Kentucky’s Democrat Governor Andy Beshear’s office has released a follow-up email confirming that President Joe Biden planned to nominate an anti-abortion federal judge on the day that Roe v. Wade was overturned, a pick that has infuriated the activist left.

Beshear turned on Biden, providing an email to the Louisville Courier-Journal from White House aide Kathleen M. Marshall on the planned tabbing of conservative attorney Stephen Chad Meredith to serve on the bench of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky – a lifetime appointment – in an apparent deal struck with Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, the GOP Senate Minority Leader.

The email which was dated June 23, the day before conservative justices would abort the landmark 1973 abortion ruling said, “To be nominated tomorrow: … Stephen Chad Meredith: candidate for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.”

Bearing the subject line of “Close hold,” indicating that it contained information that was to be kept under wraps, it was addressed to Beshear staffer Coulter Minix who replied, “Thanks, Kate. I’ll share the info and appreciate the heads up.”

The outlet, which received the email from Beshear’s office on Tuesday, had previously reported on its contents.

In another email from Marshall to Minix dated June 29, it was stated that the information was “pre-decisional and privileged information.”

“Sorry for not including this in the original e-mail, but I wanted to clarify that the e-mail I sent was pre-decisional and privileged information,” wrote Marshall. “Please let me know if you have any questions.”

News of the planned nomination of Meredith who is a member of the conservative Federalist Society set off a firestorm of rage from Democrats and their activist shock troops who are already demanding that Biden “do something” to circumvent the Supreme Court’s historic ruling.

Kentucky Democrat Rep. John Yarmuth blasted Meredith’s nomination as a “huge mistake” while acknowledging that it was just political horse-trading as a part of a larger deal on nominees.

“I strongly oppose this deal and Meredith being nominated for the position,” the congressman said in a statement. “The last thing we need is another extremist on the bench.”

Beshear also railed against Biden and Meredith, “If the president makes that nomination, it is indefensible,” he said at a recent press conference.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ducked a reporter’s inquiry on why Biden hasn’t clawed back Meredith’s nomination during Thursday’s daily press briefing.

“We do not comment on vacancies,” she said. “This is a vacancy, it’s not something we’re gonna comment on, we don’t comment on executive branch or judicial vacancy, we have not made a nomination…yet,” not answering the question.

According to the Courier-Journal, groups that represent the abortion industrial complex including “Planned Parenthood Federation Of America, NARAL Pro-Choice America, National Women’s Law Center, National Council Of Jewish Women, All* Above All Action Fund, URGE, Catholics for Choice and Physicians for Reproductive Health,” released a joint statement condemning Meredith.

“We are in a national abortion crisis,” the groups wrote. “We are in this moment because anti-abortion judges were intentionally nominated at every level to take away our fundamental right to abortion — and given his record, we know Chad Meredith would be no exception.”

“Chad Meredith should not be nominated to a lifetime judgeship. This is unacceptable at any time, but especially on the heels of six Supreme Court justices taking away a fundamental right from millions of people,” the statement reads.
