Dem governors circle the wagons after meeting, gulp down Biden’s Kool-Aid and cookies

President Joe Biden received a show of support from Democrat governors who circled the wagons around him after a Wednesday meeting with the embattled octogenarian.

Biden is facing a chorus of calls to abandon his reelection bid as fear grips his party and its backers that he could lose to former President Donald J. Trump as the firestorm rages over his nationally televised faceplant at last week’s CNN debate, but the governors are all-in.

Among the blue state leaders who voiced support for the feeble incumbent was Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota who spoke to reporters outside the White House after the get-together with Biden.

“The feedback was, we are all looking for the path to win. All the governors agree with that, President Biden agreed with that,” he said, adding, “the governors have his back.”

“A path to victory in November is the number one priority and that’s the number one priority of the president,” Walz told the reporters, parroting the White House talking point that the debate was just a “bad performance.”

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, one of the rising stars of the party, said that the meeting with Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris was “honest” and “candid.”

“We always believe that when you love someone, you tell them the truth. And I think we came in and we were honest about the feedback that we were getting. We were honest about the concerns that we are hearing from people,” he said.

“We said we will stand with him. The president has always had our backs, we’re going to have his back as well,” Moore added.

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York also spoke out in defense of Biden.

“I’m here to tell you today: President Joe Biden is in it to win it. And all of us said we pledged our support to him because the stakes could not be higher,” she said.

Two governors who have been mentioned as potential replacements for Biden if the party pulls the plug also expressed their support for their leader.

“I heard three words from the President tonight — he’s all in. And so am I. @JoeBiden ’s had our back. Now it’s time to have his,” wrote California Gov. Gavin Newsom on X.

“Joe Biden is our nominee. He is in it to win it and I support him,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a post to X.

Republicans reacted to the “out of touch” governors for gulping down Biden’s Kool-Aid.

“Democrats across the country, including Biden allies, are now openly advocating for President Biden to suspend his campaign, but Democrat governors are still in the ‘denial’ stage of the grieving process,” Republican Governors Association spokesperson Courtney Alexander said in a statement.
