A key ally of former President Bill Clinton is speaking out against his own party as “lunatics” inspired him to ditch one leftist Senate nominee in favor of the GOP.
Throughout the 2026 primary elections, the steep decline of the slippery slope across the fruited plain has yielded little more than nuts from the Democratic Party. Now, after penning an op-ed in favor of former Rep. Mike Rogers (R) over Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s U.S. Senate race, the House Democrats’ chief legal counsel during Clinton’s impeachment further explained why he is “jumping ship” from his party.
Following his New York Post op-ed, Julian Epstein spoke with Fox News Digital about Democrats supporting Marxists and Islamists, contending, “The Democrats have gone off the deep end. I think the lunatics are in charge of the asylum. I think that there is no room in the tent for people that want to destroy our Constitution. There’s no room in the tent for people that want to align themselves with radical Islam. There’s no room in a tent for people that want to align themselves with antisemitism.”
“And there’s no room, in my view, for people who don’t have any interest in building for the next generation but only want to redistribute what others have created and want to basically tear down the free market that has been the most effective anti-poverty liberation machine that human beings have ever invented,” he argued further, expressing his belief the party “has gone way too far left, but … also lost its moral center.”
Epstein kicked off his op-ed writing, “President John F. Kennedy, in his inaugural address, may have said it best: ‘In the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.’ It was a warning to those who tolerate the rise of authoritarian communism that they will inevitably end up next on the dinner menu. Michigan Democrats, in supporting Abdul El-Sayed for Senate on Tuesday, seem to be riding the back of that tiger.”
“But not me,” he added. “I’m climbing off the beast.”
Of course, Democrats weren’t alone in shifting further left as the strategist argued Rogers’ “practical, middle-of-the-road normie guy” positions aligned with the Democrats of the Clinton era.
Speaking of El-Sayed and his supporters, Epstein went on to write, “El-Sayed parrots [Vermont] Sen. Bernie Sanders’ delusion that attaches no importance to generating wealth — and only cares about redistributing it.”
“He expresses sympathy for Mideastern terrorist movements that masquerade as liberation efforts, giving cover to terror attacks on Jewish synagogues in the US (‘hurt people hurt people’) and going to absurd lengths to avoid offending supporters of Iran’s slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” he continued. “He doesn’t believe the planet’s only Jewish state has a right to exist.”
The op-ed also delved into El-Sayed’s ties to “principal campaign surrogate” Hasan Piker, known for cosplaying as his personal hero Mao Zedong, deeming America deserving of 9/11 and supporting Hamas after the October 7, 2023 terror attack on Israel.
Recently, El-Sayed sat with Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District nominee Adam Hamawy for the “Amani On Air” podcast discussing “The Future of Muslim Political Power.” As previously reported, Hamawy testified on behalf of “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman regarding his indictment for inciting the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
Sharing a clip along with a screenshot as Tlaib spoke to some 200 Muslims elected in the U.S. since 2019, Florida’s Voice News’ Eric Daugherty wrote, “WTF?! Michigan Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed (D) is effectively MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD-ENDORSED … He’s now being celebrated on the terror organization’s front page, per The Midwesterner … This is terrifying…Michigan voters should WAKE UP and vote for Mike Rogers (R) — INCLUDING Democrats who opposed El Sayed in the primary … It is not worth letting a seat fall to Islamists! SAVE THE WEST.”
