Dems slammed for pushing gender neutral bathrooms on Capitol Hill while Americans reel under inflation

As Americans continue to be crushed by soaring inflation, interest rates, violent crime, and shortages, Democratic Reps. Katherine Clark (Mass.) and Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) have something pressing to discuss up on Capitol Hill: single-occupancy bathrooms.

Yes, argue Clark and Jeffries, installing gender-neutral bathrooms in the Capitol is the least the House of Representatives can do to ease the struggles of “marginalized communities” everywhere.

“We write today to urge the Committee to support efforts to install single occupancy restrooms in the House of Representatives and the Capitol,” the pair wrote in a letter to the Committee on House Administration.

“All employees, interns, and visitors should have access to safe and comfortable restrooms,” they stated. “For members of the transgender, gender nonconforming and disability communities, that often means the availability of single stall or single-occupancy restrooms.

“As lawmakers, we can more effectively represent our constituents when our staff and interns reflect the diversity of the American people,” they contented. “However, absent improvements, we in Congress are limiting our ability to hire and retain individuals who belong to these communities.”

Did you catch that, readers?

Your representatives could do a much better job at solving the issues that matter most to you, if only they had woke toilets.

“Additionally,” they continued, “following the resuming of the Capitol and House buildings to public tours and meetings — ensuring the American people coming to visit their elected leaders have access to appropriate facilities is critical for living up to our obligations as The People’s House.’ Concern over the lack of appropriate facilities is shared by our staff and visitors who have relayed to us their stories and experiences, including Members of the LGBT Congressional Staff Association.”

The concerned Congressmembers then cited a 2015 Transgender Survey and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) requirements and “best practices” guidance to illustrate the importance of the issue.

It was enough to make Republican lawmakers want to scream.

“All across the country, Americans are suffering from record inflation, shortages, crime, the border crisis and now a tanking stock market,” Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) told Fox News Digital. “House Democrats have no solutions, so they’ve pivoted to their favorite topic — themselves.”

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), who is currently leading his state’s Senate race, claimed “far-Left Socialists don’t care about the American people” and aren’t “even trying to hide their disregard for working families.”

“While Americans are suffering under record inflation and skyrocketing gas prices, House Democrats are focused on gender-neutral bathrooms in their office buildings,” he told Fox News Digital. “Give me a break. This is political theater, a true parody of leadership.”

New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, said that the “House Democrats’ far-left agenda has created an inflation crisis, a gas crisis, border crisis, and a supply chain crisis.”

“Instead of proposing solutions to the crises they have created,” she continued, “Democrats are more concerned about peddling their woke ideology and focusing on gender-neutral bathrooms, while American families are struggling to balance their budgets.”

“The American people are smart,” Stefanik said, “and they know Republicans are committed to the issues that matter to every American family.”

The “left is arguing about bathrooms while our economy is in the toilet because of their reckless overspending,” GOP Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia said in a statement.
