Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz voiced his support for the Supreme Court on Thursday, saying that liberal “extremists” are trying to “delegitimize” the highest court in the land with claims that recent SCOTUS decisions are ending “democracy in America.”
“I’m a liberal,” Dershowitz said during an appearance on Fox News’s “Hannity.”
“I’ve been a liberal for sixty years,” he stated. “I happen to agree with all of these three cases.”

As previously reported, the Supreme Court handed down three controversial decisions last week, ending affirmative action in college admissions and ruling in favor of religious freedom on two cases, including one involving Christian Colorado graphic designer Lorie Smith, who sued the state over its anti-discrimination law that prohibited businesses providing sales or other accommodations to the public from denying service based on a customer’s sexual orientation.
Additionally, in a huge blow to the president’s agenda, the Supreme Court struck down in a 6-3 vote the Biden administration program to forgive student debt for more than 43 million American borrowers at a cost of $400 billion.

“I have been arguing against using race in affirmative action since 1974,” Dershowitz said. “I have always preferred free expression and the First Amendment over any other laws, whether it be public accommodation laws or hate speech laws.”
According to the iconic attorney, a lot of liberals and Democrats share his sentiments about the court’s decisions.
“So many civil libertarians, people who are left and right support the decision in the web case. It’s a close case. And many civil libertarians also support the decision that says that in a democracy, important decisions about spending fortunes of money should be made by the legislature, not by the unelected executive,” he stated.
“So these are all close cases that many liberals agree with and many Democrats agree with,” he continued. “And it’s just extremists, both on the court and off the court, that are screaming and yelling that somehow this ends our democracy in America.”
“They’re way, way, way overstating the issue,” Dershowitz said. “And I think we should continue to criticize the court in a respectful way when they disagree with this decision, but not to delegitimize one of the most important institutions in American history, the United States Supreme Court.”
Unfortunately for America, those “extremists” include the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the President of the United States.

In response to the decisions, many Democrats are now pressuring President Biden to pack the Supreme Court.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus chair, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) called for the passage of the Judiciary Act, which would “allow for twelve associate justices of the Supreme Court of the United States.”
“We must pass Reps. Jerry Nadler, Hank Johnson, and Mondaire Jones’ Judiciary Act to add justices and expand the Supreme Court, and their Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act to institute a Supreme Court ethics and recusal standard and require disclosure of lobbying and dark money interests,” Jayapal said in a Wednesday statement, according to Fox News.
Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) claimed that “public trust” in the Supreme Court has been “undermined” by the recent decisions.
“Recent partisan decisions by the Supreme Court that destroyed historic protections for reproductive rights, voting rights and more have undermined public trust in the court — even as inappropriate financial relationships between justices and conservative donors raised new questions about its integrity,” he said.
And President Biden himself slammed the court following the affirmative action ruling.
“Today, the court once again walked away from decades of precedent,” he said. “I strongly, strongly disagree with the court’s decision.”
“This is not a normal court,” the president declared.
