DeSantis warns he will enforce Florida laws that prevent taking kids to drag queen shows

In another assault against woke ideology, Governor Ron DeSantis has said Florida’s Child Protective Services (CPS) could be deployed to investigate parents who take their children to drag shows.

The warning came after video surfaced last weekend of young kids cavorting with drag queens — even tucking dollar bills into their racy costumes — at a Dallas nightclub.

Behind the stage was a sign that read, “It’s not going to lick itself” in hot pink neon.

As American Wire reported, protestors gathered outside the “Drag Your Kids to Pride” event, which was billed as “family friendly,” and were assaulted by mask-wearing counter-protestors.

Speaking at a press conference in Fort Myers Beach on Wednesday, DeSantis condemned the event, which was held at Mr. Misster, a gay nightclub.

Citing what he called a “concerted effort” to expose young children to “things that are not age-appropriate,” DeSantis suggested that parents who subject their kids to such surroundings are breaking the law.

“We have child protective statutes on the books,” the Florida governor said. “We have laws against child endangerment.”

“It used to be kids would be off-limits — used to be everybody agreed with that,” he continued. “Now it just seems like there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age-appropriate.”

Florida State Representative — and U.S. Congressional hopeful — Anthony Sabatini agrees, and has proposed legislation that would make it a felony for a parent to take their child to a drag show.

Fueled by a similar West Palm Beach affair called “Pride on the Block: Drag Show for Kids,” Sabatini’s bill could see the parental rights of those who violate it terminated.

“Drag Sex Shows aimed at children have come to Florida,” he tweeted following the event. “I will be proposing Legislation to charge w/ a Felony & terminate the parental rights of any adult who brings a child to these perverted sex shows aimed at FL kids.”

“When will the sexualization of children stop?” he asked.

DeSantis told reporters, “I’ve asked my folks to look” at the deployment of CPS and called the act of “very young kids” shoving dollar bills into the underwear of drag queens “totally inappropriate.”

“That is not something that children should be exposed to,” he stated.

The national debate over drag queens cozying up to kids reached new levels this week, following the suspension and eventual return of the popular Libs of TikTok Twitter account for a thread the account owner posted entitled “MEGA DRAG THREAD.”

As BizPac Review reported, the thread featured nearly three dozen examples of drag shows aimed specifically at children.

On Tuesday, Libs of TikTok posted another now-deleted video, this time of a drag performance for middle-school children.

In response, DeSantis spokesperson, Christina Pushaw, condemned the San Francisco spectacle.

“San Francisco, 2022,” she tweeted. “This is what progressives want. Drag queens with names like ‘Nicki Jizz’ performing for middle schoolers who cannot read or do math at grade level.”

“And the kids are still wearing masks OUTDOORS,” she noted. “This is the Democrat Party platform, they want it in Florida too.”

“Meanwhile in China, Russia, and Iran, kids of this age group are learning trigonometry and pre calculus. While San Francisco politicians are proclaiming that math is white supremacy,” Pushaw said in a follow-up tweet.  “Progressivism is the national security threat.”
