DoD calls diversity training a ‘strategic imperative’ and Twitter has thoughts: ‘China laughing at you/us’

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has become a laughing stock once again after it sent out a tweet on Sunday proclaiming that the Pentagon’s diversity and inclusion initiative is “a strategic imperative critical to mission readiness and accomplishment.”

The Twitter account for the DoD shared footage from a diversity training session that took place Sunday morning. It was part of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative which has been hammered by Republicans, service members, and veterans for pushing progressive propaganda that they describe as woke “anti-American” ideology.

Diversity is a strategic imperative critical to mission readiness and accomplishment,” the DoD tweeted. “We were on site for the 2023 inaugural @DoD_ODEI Summit as DEIA experts led forums to advance the DEIA and DoD mission — because our people matter.”

The training comes in the wake of President Biden implementing a far-reaching Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) agenda since he has taken office.

In September, the Pentagon announced it was forming a defense advisory committee on diversity and inclusion. It is intended to provide advice and recommendations on “matters and policies relating to the improvement of racial/ethnic diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity within the department.”

The DOD released a 37-page plan to promote DEI a week later.

Two months later, the DoD spent $91,000 on diversity and inclusion seminars for the Air Force Band, Fox News reported.

The DoD tweet was hammered by people on the social media platform. It even caught the eye of Twitter CEO Elon Musk who eviscerated the agency for not knowing what its actual job is. He called the DEI seminars a waste of taxpayer money and intimated that the DoD’s focus on diversity and inclusion is weakening America’s defense and causing recruitment to tank.

“Your strategic imperative is defending the United States,” Musk tweeted.

Jeremy Redfern, deputy press secretary to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also took a jab at the Department of Defense’s mission, “Your entire mission is to deter an attack on the US homeland, and if there is a war, to effectively and efficiently destroy the enemies of the United States. That’s it.”

One user called The Redheaded libertarian snarked, “China will lay down their arms immediately when they see how inclusive the US military is.”

Blair Brandt, a political advisor and entrepreneur nailed it, “Absolutely ridiculous and totally unrelated to the quite significant national security threats we face. China and Russia are laughing at you/us and when we encounter big ticket problems, people will look at this moment and posts like this to see where our priorities went wrong.”

Florida State Board of Education member Ryan Petty also called it a waste of taxpayer money, “@DeptofDefense @DoD_ODEI DE&I have zero to do with defending the homeland. You are wasting taxpayer funds.”

Conservative journalist Ian Miles Cheong mocked the DoD, “Good job shooting down hobby balloons,” that being a reference to reports that the Air Force may have mistakenly shot down a balloon belonging to an Illinois-based hobbyist club.

Politically Stripped summarized the sad state of the DoD under Biden, “DoD lost its focus. They’re not ready. Shooting down weather balloons-Not shooting down spy balloons. Leadership focusing on the wrong things like equity & diversity, instead of defense of our nation.”

The infamous Catturd summed it up, “Meanwhile in China … the Biden regime is a woke joke.”
