For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Dodgers visited the White House on Thursday after winning the World Series, putting tradition and the game ahead of politics.
In addition to the traditional jersey given to the president, Dodgers principal owner Mark Walter broke rank to also give Trump a personalized World Series ring, prompting the president to joke about not wanting to report the gift, as required by law.
“Oh, wow,” Trump said after being handed the ring. “Oh, you have to be kidding, huh? Wow. Do I have to report this? I don’t wanna report this! That’s beautiful. Thank you very much.”

“It’s got your name on it, so it’s fully worth it to you,” Walter added, as the president held up the ring to the cheering crowd.

“I just want to say we’re delighted to host the 2025 World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers,” Trump said in his remarks. “For the first time in the proud history of this famous franchise, you are repeat champions — I didn’t know that.”
“Great ownership, great management. So I’m thrilled to say welcome back to the White House and maybe I will see you again next year, I hope,” the president continued. “It’s truly a great, when you talk about a brand, it’s one of the great brands anywhere in the world, no matter where you go. The Dodgers are one of the great brands.”
