Dove taps activist who destroyed white student’s life over ‘misheard’ BLM comment to promote ‘fat liberation’

There are plenty of obese women Dove could have chosen as a poster child for its campaign to end “body size discrimination,” but, as though Bud Light never happened, it chose one of the most polarizing black activists from the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement — a woman who was happy to destroy the life of a white University of Virginia (UVA) student over a “misheard” statement.

As BizPac Review reported, in 2020 then-fellow UVA student Zyahna Bryant accused Morgan Bettinger to anyone who would listen of telling a dump truck driver who was protecting BLM protestors with his nearby vehicle that they would make “good f–king speed bumps.”

What Bettinger actually said was, “It’s a good thing that you are here, because otherwise, these people would have been speed bumps.”

Bettinger’s comment, she later argued, was meant to thank the driver “for protecting the protesters, many of whom were sitting in the middle of often-busy East High Street,” according to Reason magazine, which broke the story.

“The woman in this truck approached protesters in #Charlottesville, and told us that we would make ‘good speedbumps,'” Bryant wrote on what was then known as Twitter. “She then called the police and started crying saying we were attacking her.”

Bettinger was doxxed, and Bryant began a campaign “to send mass complaints to school administrators demanding [her] expulsion.”

“EMAIL these UVA deans now to demand that Morgan face consequences for her actions and that UVA stop graduating racists,” she tweeted.

Bryant also filed a complaint with UVA’s student-like University Judiciary Committee (UJC), which “found [Bettinger] guilty and sentenced her to expulsion in abeyance, meaning she was allowed to stay at the school, but with a huge mark on her record, and the threat of expulsion hanging over her head if she did something else,” BizPac Review reported. “She was also sanctioned multiple times.”

A student-run investigation found no proof of Bryant’s claims, and the activist later — long after the damage was done to Bettinger’s life — admitted she was no longer sure whether she’d heard Bettinger say what she’d thought she said.

Now, Bryant is being rewarded for her destructive, some would say, “racist,” attack on Bettinger with a corporate paid partnership with Dove.

Last week, Bryant announced the arrangement on Instagram.

“#DovePartner Fat liberation is something we should all be talking about!” she wrote. “#DovePartner Fat liberation is something we should all be talking about! Tell us what Fat Liberation means to you using the hashtag #sizefreedom and tagging @dove to share your story.”

“My belief is that we should be centering the voices and experiences of the most marginalized people and communities at all times,” she stated in the accompanying video.

Back on X, conservative consumers are understandably furious.

“I would think Dove is the new Bud Light,” wrote one user, referring to the billions of dollars Anheuser-Busch lost to boycotts after partnering with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.

“Switching my soap brand,” stated another.

“The only thing Dove should be doing w/ their soap when it comes to a liar who happily ruins other people’s lives is to wash her mouth out with it,” declared a third. “Woke marketers are idiots.”
