Elon Musk steps in to make sure San Jose bakery gets paid for canceled pie order

Tesla owner Elon Musk stepped in to “make things good” when a California bakery complained online about a canceled order.

A representative from the car company had contacted The Giving Pies, located in San Jose, last week and ordered 2,000 mini pies and then doubled the order only to cancel it at the last moment.

When Musk caught wind of the matter, he had Tesla pay $2,000 to cover the costs of a canceled pie order, according to the New York Post.

Owner Voahangy Rasetarinera said in a Facebook post that the bakery received an order for 2000 mini pies “from Laura at Tesla.” Despite problems with the payment process through Tesla’s vendor, City Flavor, they were moving ahead with the order and that’s when Rasetarinera explained that they then received a request to double the order.

She was still having problems with payment, but things suddenly went from bad to worse.

“To fulfill the order, I had turned down other Black History Month catering inquiries, purchased supplies, and prepared for a demanding production schedule,” the owner wrote. “I called Laura at 2pm only to get her voicemail. A few minutes later, my hopes were shattered when I received a text from Laura, CASUALLY informing me that the plan had changed and Tesla would no longer require the order. This abrupt reversal left me reeling, realizing the extent of the impact on my small business. I had invested time, resources, and effort based on assurances from Tesla, only to be left high and dry.”

She said Laura tried to “shift blame to upper management,” before adding: “To me, it was clear that Tesla’s corporate culture prioritized convenience over accountability, disregarding the livelihoods of small business owners like myself.

Being that this is California and Elon Musk is a favorite villain for the left, people turned out in force over the weekend to show support for the bakery.

“Oh my gosh, it’s incredible,” Rasetarinera told NBC Bay Area. “I am blown away. I’m like, ‘I didn’t do it for that.’ I’m so grateful. It’s amazing. People are amazing.”

As of this writing, there have been no additional posts on The Giving Pies Facebook account about Musk intervening, or Telsa covering the cost of the canceled order.
