The father of the 14-year-old alleged Apalachee High School shooter rocked back and forth as he learned his charges for his part in the horrible act.
Colin Gray was arrested on Thursday and is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. The charges stem from the accusation that the father purchased the weapon used in the school shooting as a Christmas present for his son.

According to a timeline reportedly provided to the police by the father, the purchase of the firearm took place after the family was contacted by authorities regarding school shooting threats made by the suspect, who will be tried as an adult.
The victims have been identified by GBI officials as 14-year-old Mason Schermerhorn, 14-year-old Christian Angulo, 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall and 53-year-old Christina Irimie.

X users had a lot to say:
I’m a gun guy, I always have been, now that being said this guy knew that there was something not right with his son and he still bought him a firearm.
I have no idea what this man was thinking, this kid should not have been anywhere near a firearm.
He should be held…

I know the parents hold some responsibility, but these charges are a little extreme. Kid was old enough to know right from wrong

It seems like a troubled family and a problematic child who shouldn’t have been given an AR-15, especially since the FBI had already been monitoring him for making threats against a school.

Whatever he is “feeling” right now, is nothing in comparison to what the victims’ families are going through.
No sympathy for him, or his son.

I don’t see how either of the Gray men don’t go to jail for the rest of their lives

Gifting your son a rifle in and of itself shouldn’t be an issue. Very common in the South. Doing it AFTER you know he’s made threats and the FBI had him on their radar IS a problem, if they can prove that.

You shouldn’t buy a gun for your mentally ill son, after being visited by the FBI.
He deserves everything coming to him.— Jennyjenny (@JenniferPelti16) September 6, 2024
