Eric Swalwell’s lavish campaign fund expenditures include casino, liquor delivery app

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California spent campaign funds lavishly to include a casino, bars, sporting events, high-end steak houses, a liquor delivery app, and a beer garden, according to third-quarter Federal Election Commission data.

The records, reviewed by The Daily Caller, indicate that Swalwell, who frequently promotes the false claim that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election, “has spent a lot of time and money at some of the most expensive restaurants in Washington D.C.,” the outlet reported.

Included in his campaign records are expenditures for limousine services, Washington Nationals baseball games, a beer garden called Wunter Garten, several liquor delivery orders using an app called Drizzly, and JetSuiteX, a luxury flight service. In addition, records show a number of payments made at the Cosmopolitan Casino in Las Vegas, The DC reported.

“The third quarter filing shows that the charges were made from July 1, 2021, through Sept. 30, 2021,” the site noted.

The California Democrat and frequent Trump critic who is also a member of the House Intelligence Committee was criticized in July for similar expenditures. At that time, FEC records showed that Swalwell’s campaign spent $21,200.75 over a half-dozen transactions in April at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, Calif. According to her LinkedIn profile, Brittney Swalwell, the congressman’s wife, was director of sales at the hotel for at least four years.

“He likes the finer things in life, and like most liberals he wants someone else to pay for it,” Fox News’ Jesse Watters remarked at the time during a segment on “The Five.”

“He must have developed this appetite for Far East cuisine when he was dating Fang Fang,” Watters added, a reference to previous reporting that Swalwell was romantically involved at one time with a suspected Chinese spy named Christine Fang, who has since left the U.S. after coming under investigation by the FBI.

“Also likes to frequent, because he is a working man, the Charlie Palmer Steak House, where he can get a $130 steak and that is not included with a side or a soup or a salad. Everything is a la carte,” Watters continued.

“And, of course, he has to stay at his wife’s Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. I mean, you can’t go back to your meager house in your district. You’ve got to wake up the next morning and get 18 holes in at the course that overlooks the Pacific,” the Fox News host continued.

After news broke of Swalwell’s involvement with a suspected Chinese intelligence agent, Republicans pressed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, another California Democrat, to remove him from the Intelligence Committee, but she has refused to do so.

“This is why people hate politicians,” Watters continued. “It’s because these narcissist finger-waggers go into politics just for the comfortable lifestyle that they would never be able to achieve or afford in any other profession because they don’t have the brains or the talent.

“And he goes on TV the next day and says we’ve got to get big money out of politics and everything is corrupt,” Watters added. “That’s probably been the biggest lie he told and there have been a lot of them.”
