Ex-Biden staffer blames Biden for the ‘hellscape that we live in’: ‘Undeniable that his hubris cost us’

An ex-staffer for the Biden campaign called out former President Joe Biden’s “hubris” and holds him responsible for the “hellscape” the nation is currently enduring.

Speaking with New York Magazine in a new report on the Bidens’ efforts to save his legacy, the former staffer remarked on the 46th president’s decisions that paved the way for President Donald Trump’s triumphal return to the White House.

“I think it is very hard to ever get over the fact that he is responsible for the hellscape that we live in now,” the former campaign staffer said. “It is undeniable that his hubris cost us. He was an extremely impactful president who was successful in delivering tangible wins for Americans, but all of that is washed away.”

“It can often seem like the Bidens are divorced from reality, exemplified by their ability to claim with a straight face that the former president was not a Washington insider. But they believe they can make a case for his legacy — as long as they can somehow disentangle it from Biden’s ruinous decision to run for a second term,” Ben Terris, the DC correspondent for New York Magazine, wrote in the piece.

“Biden’s team is split between outright denial that his age was an issue and asserting that time has a way of working its magic,” he added in the report that followed Biden’s appearance at the South Dakota Democratic Party’s McGovern Day Dinner in Sioux Falls earlier this month.

The 83-year-old former president reportedly spoke at a Best Western in front of about 1,200 Democrats who gave him a standing ovation after his speech in which he trashed Trump.

“He spoke quietly, with sudden bursts of yelling, and occasionally lost his train of thought,” the piece noted, and that was after he “had stood for almost two hours in a back room greeting hundreds of VIP guests and posing for photos.”

Terris also noted that the speech “was part of an aggressive effort — ramped up in recent weeks by Biden’s family and inner circle — to remind people that Biden is more than just the loser of the 2024 election.”

“Without a doubt, every day, there is less of a ’24 hangover,” Rufus Gifford, chair of the board for Biden’s presidential library, told New York Magazine. “It’s not solved, but there’s less of a hangover and more of a nostalgia for normal times.”

But longtime Obama advisor, David Axelrod, begged to differ, contending that “Putting him front and center will remind people why he was forced to leave the stage.”

Former Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor sees Biden as “only a victim of what others did to him.”

“He never views the country as the victim of what he did to us,” the co-host of “Pod Save America” told the magazine.
