A former staffer for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) who was found dead in a hotel room after his name was mentioned in an explosive leaked audio died of a drug overdose.
The ex-aide, 36-year-old Jerome Brooks, passed away on October 29, 2023, when he went to the hotel near Austin, Texas to engage in a homosexual hookup days after the audio of the longtime Democrat congresswoman was shared on social media in which Jackson Lee was captured in all of her glory as she unleashed an f-bomb saturated diatribe in which she berated staffers.

Austin police had already ruled out homicide after an investigation and now Hill County Forensics has determined that Brooks died of an accidental drug overdose, Houston’s KPRC reported, citing the findings of Chief Forensic Pathologist Satish Chundru.
Brooks died after he went to the hotel room of the male whom he met online.
“There, he was observed to drink ethanol and take pills described as ‘ecstasy,’” and a call was placed to paramedics after he “grabbed his chest and slumped over,” the outlet reported. “He was given CPR and Naloxone but did not survive.”
“Forensic Toxicologist Michael Lamb with NMS Labs found Brooks had alcohol, MDMA, methamphetamine, and sildenafil, a drug similar to Viagra, also in his system,” according to KPRC which “reached out” to Jackson Lee for comment but was told that she was traveling.
“Okay. So when I called Jerome, he only sitting up there like a fat *ss stupid idiot talking about, uh, what the f**k? He doesn’t know. Okay? Both of y’all are f**k ups [inaudible]. It’s the worst sh*t that I could have ever had put together,” Jackson Lee ranted on the profanity-drenched recording. “Two godd**n big *ss children f**king idiots serve no goddamn purpose. Ain’t managing nobody. Nobody’s respecting them. Nobody gives a sh*t about what you’re doing and you ain’t doing sh*t. And this is an example of it. I gave it to Jerome. This is not child’s work.”
The recording was greatly embarrassing to Jackson Lee who was at the time running to become Houston’s mayor, a race that she would go on to be clobbered in despite the endorsements of Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton who has had more than her share of dead bodies turn up over the course of her political career.

“I want to convey to the people of Houston that I strongly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and that includes my own staff. I know that I am not perfect,” the foul-mouthed bully said in a statement about the recording. “I recognize that in my zeal to do everything possible to deliver for my constituents, I have in the past fallen short of my own standards and there is no excuse for that. I am passionate about serving my constituents. I want the best for all of them.”
