The absence of any Americans among the hostages being released by the Hamas terror organization has sparked criticism but a top Biden regime official expressed hope that will soon change.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan hit the Sunday morning shows where he excitedly predicted that there is “reason to believe” that Hamas will free “at least” one American captive on Sunday, the first during the four-day ceasefire in Gaza that his boss, President Joe Biden has taken credit for engineering — Sullivan said 10 American hostages remain in Gaza as of Sunday.
“The initial hostage deal involves the release of women and children and there are three Americans in that category: two women and one young child. And we have reason to believe that one of those Americans will be released today,” Sullivan told “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker during an appearance on the NBC Sunday morning flagship.

“But until we see her out — safely from Gaza, in the hands of the authorities and ultimately in the hands of her family — then we won’t be certain,” Sullivan added. “But we have reason to believe that there will be one release today.”
NBC News also reported that a second White House official has “reason to believe” that an American will be among Sunday’s releases, which would be a public relations victory that Biden can hang his hat on after he was slammed by former President Donald J. Trump and others for the lack of Americans who have been set free after being abducted during last month’s sneak attack on Israel that left over 1,300 dead, many of whom were butchered with primitive savagery.
“Has anybody noticed that Hamas has returned people from other Countries but, so far, has not returned one American Hostage? There is only one reason for that, NO RESPECT FOR OUR COUNTRY OR OUR LEADERSHIP. This is a very sad and dark period of America!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.

“Beginning today, under the deal reached between Israel and Hamas, fighting in Gaza will halt for four days,” Biden said in a Friday post to X, previously known as Twitter. “13 Israeli hostages have been released along with several Thai nationals. And we expect that dozens more, including Americans, will be returned to their families.”
“At least one American will be released today. I cannot confirm who it will be, or that it will absolutely happen because until we see that American out of Gaza, in safety and ultimately in the hands of their loved ones, we won’t have full confirmation,” Sullivan told Margaret Brennan on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
“And we do have reason to believe that there will be an American release today but let’s wait and see what actually happens. Because of course, we are dealing with a terrorist group here and we can’t immediately trust we have to verify,” he added.
Fifty captives are expected to be released during the four-day ceasefire, a small percentage of the over 200 that were taken hostage and who will be used as bargaining chips to get Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call off the military offensive to eliminate the terrorist threat in Gaza.
