Fetterman breaks with Dems on Palestinian statehood – ‘absolute betrayal’

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman called out members of his own party for anti-Israel rhetoric after a deadly terror attack in Australia.

The Pennsylvania Democrat broke with his own, telling Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that he agreed with virtually everything” Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham had said earlier on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

A Hanukkah celebration in Australia over the weekend became the scene of what police are saying was a “targeted” attack on the Jewish community. The shooting spree left 15 people dead, including the suspected shooter, and injured many more.

Fetterman criticized a two-state solution in establishing Palestinian statehood, calling it an “absolute betrayal” of Israel as he reacted to remarks made by Graham earlier on Fox News, as he said doing so would be “rewarding killing Jews.”

“Absolutely. It’s an absolute betrayal for Israel and for the worldwide Jewish community,” Fetterman said.

“Whether it’s France or Australia or any of these nations, our Western allies are now calling for a two-state solution, when Hamas refuses to disarm and are actively trying to kill Jews — I can’t imagine why anybody would do that at this point,” the staunch Israel-supporting senator added. “That is not the appropriate reward after 10/7.”

He also blasted Democrats for their continued anti-Israel rhetoric, contending it is now “becoming more and more part of my party’s platform.”

“I can’t imagine why so many parts of people in my party continue to back away or to kind of deflect… condemning these kinds of horrific acts of terrorism,” he said.

Calling on Democrats to tone down their hostile rhetoric, Fetterman also blamed social media for growing antisemitism in the U.S.

“The young people in our nation have turned their back entirely against Israel, and that’s the social media, that’s the scourge, that’s where antisemitism breeds,” he said.

France, the United Kingdom, and Canada, among other Western nations, have formally recognized a Palestinian state. The United States has not done so. Graham condemned the decision during his Fox News appearance.

“To every Western government who’s recognized a Palestinian state, you’re rewarding killing Jews. It’s the most irresponsible decision I can imagine,” Graham said. “What state are you recognizing? Is it control by Hamas? What are you recognizing here? When you kill Jews, you get a state? You’re going to get more killing of Jews. So I would urge the West to get tougher on radical Islam.”
