Fetterman calls for Dems to ‘drop the TDS’ and get behind Trump’s ballroom after WHCA shooting

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) once again broke with his radicalized party in calling for opposition to the new White House ballroom to be dropped after the terrifying shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday.

The Pennsylvania Democrat was in attendance at the event along with other lawmakers and President Donald J. Trump, the guest of honor, when a leftist shooter armed with a shotgun bolted past security and opened fire as he headed for the ballroom where the officials were gathered.

Fortunately, he was prevented from killing anyone, but the astounding lack of security makes the case for Trump’s new ballroom, which will be better suited to protect the president and others from being targeted by unstable left-wing lunatics like 31-year-old Cole Allen, who traveled to the Washington Hilton from California with murder on his agenda.

“We were there front and center,” Fetterman wrote in a Sunday post to X. “That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government. After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these.”

President Donald J. Trump has made the new ballroom a top priority, citing a need for a suitable place to host visiting foreign leaders as well as the security features, including safety from drone attacks.

But as with everything else in his second term, the president has been undermined by Democrats and leftist groups who have turned to their friends on the federal bench to gum up the works with lawfare.

Just weeks before the WHCA Dinner shooting, a federal judge in D.C. blocked construction on the new 90,000 square foot ballroom.

“The fact that the ballroom is planned to include security features such as bullet-proof windows and a drone-proof roof does not bring the structure within the scope of the [national security] exception. While these features may well be beneficial, Defendants have not provided any national security justification for why these features must be installed immediately, such that they should be excluded from the scope of the injunction,” wrote U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee, in an April 16 opinion.

“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE. This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!” Trump wrote on Truth Social in the aftermath of the apparent failed assassination attempt.

Once beloved by the Democrat base, Fetterman has been shunned by many in his party over his support for Israel, and common sense takes on illegal immigration. The new White House ballroom is likely to be another sore spot for his detractors.
