U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) continues to impress with his willingness to defy his party’s orthodoxy and has now openly suggested that it’s time for octogenarian former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to retire.
The 84-year-old engineer of the overthrow of presumptive nominee Joe Biden that ultimately led to a landslide loss for Democrats, Pelosi has reportedly already filed a statement of candidacy to run for reelection in 2026 for what would be her 21st term in Congress.
In brutally frank remarks in which he skewered her for the ouster of Biden, the old-school liberal also pointed out Pelosi’s selfishness for continuing to hog a House seat instead of making way for the younger generation.
John Fetterman on Nancy Pelosi:
“I think it’s really ironic that you have a woman at age 84 and she is still hanging on. Why not give a younger generation an opportunity to occupy that seat”

“People like [Nancy] Pelosi, she really tried to — what’s the word I’m looking for? — she embraced this ‘she’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer.’ And now she’s blaming Biden. Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted, and now you’re still blaming Biden,” he said in an interview with Politico.
“I think it’s ironic that you have a woman at age 84 and she is still hanging on. Why not give a younger generation an opportunity to occupy that seat?” Fetterman asked.
It’s a legitimate question because if Pelosi does run – and she is guaranteed to win in her San Francisco district – she would be 88 years old when her term expires in 2028, and she could be looking to join the 90+ club and stay in Congress until she’s practically a corpse, as her fellow Californian Dianne Feinstein did.
“We’ll never know if Biden would win or not. We knew it was going to be very close. It was really tough,” Fetterman told Politico, seeming to hang the responsibility for Democrats losing the White House and control of Congress around Pelosi’s neck.
The octogenarian Democrat has shamelessly accused Biden of costing Democrats their coveted one-party state even though it was she who, along with Barack Obama, pulled the trigger on his ouster, depriving the incumbent of his rightful reelection run.
“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” she told The New York Times in a post-election interview.
“The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary,” added Pelosi, not mentioning that she is the one who shoved Biden out the door with it having been reported that he was threatened with the use of the 25th Amendment if he didn’t step aside.
“And as I say, Kamala may have, I think she would have done well in [a primary] and been stronger going forward. But we don’t know that. That didn’t happen. We live with what happened,” Pelosi said. “And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. If it had been much earlier, it would have been different.”
The Democrats may soon be rid of the senile Biden but the leadership of the left-wing party still resembles the rec room at a nursing home.
