A male Delta Air Lines flight attendant called out a female Southwest Airlines gate agent’s “ghetto” behavior during an airport altercation last week.
The altercation occurred at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where the unnamed but finely dressed flight attendant had just landed.
“This is ridiculous,” the flight attendant told the gate agent as he walked alongside her through the terminal. “This is the worst airport, and y’all make Southwest look horrible. That customer service is ridiculous.”

The Southwest agent tried to get away from the flight attendant by walking toward the gate, but he kept following her and slamming her and other Southwest employees as “ghetto.”
“That’s because it’s Atlanta, y’all have no respect for customer service,” he said. “Y’all need to clean it up, clean it up because I’m just trying to take a flight. I don’t have to take Southwest, I can take Delta.”
The Southwest agent then raised her hand and demanded that the flight attendant lower his “tone.”
“Get your hands out of my face!” he shouted back. “You are something. You are nothing. Where’s your name tag at? You ghetto.”
He added that his co-workers had told him “not to come here” and “not to transfer here” because the staff there was “ridiculous and ghetto.”
“Atlanta gotta clean itself up — this is supposed to be the black Mecca, and y’all can’t even carry yourself with class,” he shouted.
The Southwest agent then encouraged him to fly home with Delta if he was unhappy.
“I don’t have to take Southwest — I can take Delta!” he replied.
The Southwest agent eventually walked away, and the flight attendant continued ranting to the bystander who recorded the altercation.
The altercation has sparked a wide array of comments on social media.

Delta flight attendant, your berating gaze was so intense, I swear the baggage carousels paused just to witness your formidable aura.

Working in airports is incredibly stressful these days – everyone’s on edge. Really feel for both airline employees here. Can’t imagine dealing with those conditions day after day.

Nothing wrong for calling out poor behavior. Professional courtesy doesn’t always have to be about good things. She’s overweight, inappropriate hair probably overdone cosmetics. What happened to the days of looking professional. Being black doesn’t mean ghetto. I am black.

Well it’s Atlanta
I hate transferring through Atlanta I’ve had the worst experiences with black people there .
The white people seems genuinely nice . But I get the feeling the handful of times that all the black people are drunk and acting aggressive for no reason.— Be Better (@VanillaManUSA) October 21, 2025
Some critics have taken issue with the flight attendant, arguing that his own behavior while in uniform was inappropriate.
“First of all, you don’t act this way while in uniform and in view of customers,” Ben Schlappig of One Mile At A Time opined. “I mean, I think you should never talk to people this way, but it’s especially unprofessional when you’re an obvious representative of a company. And it’s not just that he’s loudly complaining, but he’s attacking all of Atlanta, and calling everyone ghetto. That’s just not cool. You can’t shout at people, calling them ghetto, and claim that they’re the ones who can’t carry themselves with class.”
“Second of all, the whole basis of this interaction is that he was commuting on another airline, and the conflict seemed to have something to do with his priority on Southwest. When you’re traveling as a commuter on another airline, you’re a guest of that airline, and you should act accordingly. You don’t get something for free from a company, and then turn around and call them all kinds of names. Being able to commute on other airlines is a courtesy and a privilege,” he added.
Schlappig concluded by arguing that the flight attendant could have registered his “grievances” the correct way by going through Southwest’s complaint department or whatnot.
