A psychotic Lindsay Clancy fan who hanged her own 2-year-old son to death later sang a “Wizard of Oz” tune while being questioned by the police.
Illinois woman Corie Walsh, 40, allegedly hanged her son off a rafter on Sept. 1 and then left him there for her other children to find, according to The Sun.
When Walsh’s two other children returned from school that afternoon and saw the body, they rushed to an unnamed neighbor’s home for help.
The neighbor went to the Walsh’s home, where she reported to the authorities that the deceased boy, Barrett Walsh, “was cold and had no pulse,” according to court filings reviewed by CNN.
When the police arrived, they found the deceased boy’s mother “in a bathtub filled with bloody water and giggling,” according to The Sun. The psychotic woman had reportedly been cutting herself with a knife.

Questioned by the police, Walsh went cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
She “went on an unhinged rant while speaking with detectives, singing her own rendition of the ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ song from the ‘Wizard of Oz’ film,” The Sun reported, citing court documents.
Citing what first responders had told him, Walsh’s attorney, Robert Kerr, revealed that while in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, his client was “in and out of consciousness” and not responding to questions.
The first responders reportedly said that Walsh was “talking to us, but not coherent,” and that at one point she started shouting out the names of fruits.
“When she was talking, it seemed like she wanted to know what she was saying, but what she was saying that she didn’t make sense,” they said, according to Kerr.
She said, among other things, that she’d also killed her other children by drowning them, though that obviously never happened. She later said that she’d killed her son because she thought he was the “devil” and “antichrist.”
Kerr has alleged that his client suffered a psychotic breakdown and pointed to her conflicting statements to investigators as proof. For example, though she told the cops she’d gone to McDonald’s for a breakfast sandwich on the afternoon of the killing, the McDonald’s nearby stops serving breakfast at 11.
This case bears strong similarities to the Clancy case. In that case, Clancy strangled her three children to death while allegedly also having a psychotic break linked to her alleged postpartum psychosis. However, the connection between the Walsh case and the Clancy case runs even deeper.
Walsh was reportedly texting about the Clancy trial in a group chat only hours before she hanged her son. Her friends described the text messages she wrote as being “confusing” and “out of character.” They also said that she falsely believed that Clancy’s husband was the real killer.

Speaking of husbands, Walsh admitted that she’d planned to kill her husband with poison as well. He wasn’t at home at the time of Barrett’s killing.
Some critics have accused the Walsh killing of being a copycat murder. Kerr didn’t appreciate this comparison, calling it “sickening.”
“Describing Corie to a copied Lindsay is to take an easy bait,” he alleged, according to Chicago station WMAQ.
He also said that his client was “severely mental ill” from a “brief psychotic disorder” and needs help.
Critics say the best “help” would involve locking Walsh, whom they describe as an attention-seeking fiend, up for life.
She saw all the Lindsey Clancy fans in the streets and decided she wanted that same amount of attention.
