With President Joe Biden’s numbers in what could be an unrecoverable death spiral, there is more than a little bit of sniping going on inside the Democratic Party tent as some Obama campaign veterans recently spoke out.
Several former aides to the nation’s 44th president aired their grievances with Team Biden in candid comments reported by Politico as the deeply unpopular incumbent’s hopes for staying in the White House appear to be circling the drain.
According to the veterans of Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, the Democrat rock star had a much better ground game than that of the current president.
Drawing quotes from a gathering of Obama alumni at a meeting in Chicago late last year, the outlet paints a picture of dismay and frustration over the Biden campaign’s shortcomings that could see him losing to former President Donald J. Trump in this November’s election.
“The vibe was that the campaign didn’t have its sh*t together,” said one unnamed Democrat of the mood at the gathering. “There wasn’t infrastructure in the states. There wasn’t a beefed-up campaign headquarters. And compared to where Obama was in 2011, the campaign was fairly anemic.”
“The big issue I have is Biden never had an organization before. He didn’t have much in the Dem primary. Then the general was during COVID and no ground stuff was really done,” said one Obama 2012 battleground state director, noting that in 2020, Biden was essentially able to campaign from his basement.
Former top Obama strategist David Axelrod added his two cents, suggesting that the Biden campaign could benefit from an infusion of experience from Biden’s White House team.
“There is a treasure trove of experience in that White House. I mean, one of the issues is it’s all in the White House,” he said. “Probably some of it should be sitting over at the campaign.”
Axelrod has made headlines in recent months for his criticism of Biden, including remarks that appeared to nudge him into retirement, angering the geriatric Democrat who reportedly called him a “pr*ck” over the suggestion.
Only @JoeBiden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?

Others were far more charitable, like former Obama campaign manager Jim Messina who is optimistic about the type of low-information swing voters who saddled America with the disastrous Biden presidency in 2020.
“Your average swing voter pays attention to politics four minutes a week until the few months leading up to November,” he said. “So the way they’re working to activate the base and get out their message — and the stakes of making the right choice in the inevitable Biden/Trump rematch — to other groups is smart.”
Standing with much to lose if Trump returns looking for payback, Obama himself has reportedly expressed his concerns about his former veep’s lethargic campaign.
“Former president Barack Obama has raised questions about the structure of President Biden’s reelection campaign, discussing the matter directly with Biden and telling the president’s aides and allies the campaign needs to be empowered to make decisions without clearing them with the White House, according to three people familiar with the conversations,” The Washington Post recently reported.
“Obama grew ‘animated’ in discussing the 2024 election and former president Donald Trump’s potential return to power, one of the people said, and has suggested to Biden’s advisers that the campaign needs more top-level decision-makers at its headquarters in Wilmington, Del. — or it must empower the people already in place,” according to the WaPo.
Obama did have one major advantage in his reelection bid in that he was matched up against Mitt Romney, quite possibly the most feckless Republican candidate of the modern era, and not the resurgent Trump who gets stronger by the day as the flailing Biden plummets in the polls.
In another body blow to Biden, a newly released poll sent panic through the regime’s Sunday morning cheerleaders.

“We invite everyone concerned about the existential threat that Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans pose to our freedom and democracy to channel their energy toward organizing, donating and talking to their friends about the stakes of this election and President Biden’s commitment to fighting these threats head on,” Biden spokesman Kevin Munoz was quoted by Politico.
