George P. Bush says Biden’s creating unconstitutional ‘asylum approach’ to ‘build a new political base’

Former Texas land commissioner George P. Bush accused President Joe Biden of “trying to build a new political base” via an unconstitutional “asylum approach” to the crisis at the Mexican Border.

The eldest son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush joined Fox News’s “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade” on Saturday and was asked for his thoughts on a new book by reporter Todd Bensman titled “Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History.”

In it, Bensman claims Mexico “played” Biden, quietly passing a law that will, according to Kilmeade, “allow Mexico to empty its detention centers to allow them to release families across the border.”

“Does it sound like it happened?” the Fox host asked Bush.

“I think it’s consistent with not only Mexican policy, but the fact that this administration has made it clear that [Biden’s] trying to build a new political base by creating a new asylum approach unconstitutionally outside the bounds of his executive authority,” Bush replied. “In states like mine, like Texas, that are left to absorb not only the undue amount of financial cost — the amount of human trafficking, the amount of imports of fentanyl, and the illicit trades that are occurring on the border — is nothing short of historic.”

As BizPac Review reported, in his State of the Union address, Biden touted a new program that would allow the U.S. to execute mass deportations of non-Mexicans back to Mexico while allowing hundreds of thousands of migrants to enter the States legally via an expansion of the parole process, applying it to mass migrations, rather than using it on a case-by-case basis as it was intended.

The new “pathway” to American citizenship will start with a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website that allows would-be migrants to “schedule an asylum appointment at a U.S. port of entry or seek a two-year permit to live and work in the United States through the parole process,” according to The Washington Post.

“It’s time for to us come together to defend our nation’s sovereignty,” Bush stated. “And states like Texas and Arizona invoking their own sovereignty to do the job the federal government is unwilling to do.”

“As a candidate for attorney general,” Bush continued, “I was the first to propose the idea of invoking under the Texas state Constitution the idea of asserting our own sovereignty, that the president has neglected his duties under the constitutional authorities, that he has by neglecting the needs of his own people.”

“So, yes, it’s great that he had a Photoshop tour of the border,” he acknowledged, “but we need more than platitudes. We need more Democrats led by Henry Cuellar, by the way, who’s a border Democrat himself, who knows the seriousness of this issue, and get more Democrats on board so we can get some action here now.”
