GOP lawmaker introduces bill to yank Special Counsel Jack Smith’s paycheck

While special counsel Jack Smith continues to pile up charges in his unprecedented cases against former President Donald J. Trump, one GOP House lawmaker is looking to hit him where it hurts, right in the wallet.

U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) has introduced legislation to cut off the federal funds used to pay the salary of the Biden regime’s ice-cold legal assassin, filing the “You’re Fired Act” which is short for the “Yanking Outlays for an Unethical, Ruthless Enterprise that Fraudulently Impedes Robust Electoral Debate Act.”

“Jack Smith is nothing more than a weaponized DOJ pawn in Biden’s corrupt scheme to imprison his political opposition ahead of the 2024 election,” the Tennessee Republican wrote on Twitter/X.

“The Biden Administration’s weaponization of the DOJ for personal political gain through the appointment of Jack Smith is nothing short of appalling,” Ogles said in a statement, according to the Washington Examiner. “In November 2022, he was tasked with taking down Biden’s biggest threat, President Donald J. Trump. From falsified indictments to non-existent supporting ‘evidence’, everything about the proceedings by Smith have screamed desperate. America cannot and will not stand for that, and it’s well past time that Congress uses its power of the purse to tell Jack Smith: you’re fired.”

Last week, Smith further inserted himself into the democratic process by proposing that his trial of Trump over his alleged role in the so-called “insurrection” on January 6, 2021, should begin on January 2, 2024, which would keep the current GOP frontrunner tied up in court for at least the early primaries and possibly through Super Tuesday.

In addition to Rep. Ogles, the “You’re Fired Act” has two other sponsors, Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.)

“Biden’s Department of Justice is attempting to muzzle the voice of the American people and forcibly impose the Administration’s morally corrupt agenda onto this country,” Rep. Crane said in a statement.

“The weaponization of the DOJ against the political enemies of the Biden Crime Family, by way of left-wing puppet Jack Smith, is contrary to our governing principles. It’s simple: patriotic American taxpayers shouldn’t be funding the salary of someone actively fighting to suppress their voices,” the Arizona Republican added.

“Joe Biden’s administration is run by left-wing political activists. Jack Smith is the latest example of someone who will do anything it takes to ensure that President Trump is kept out of the White House,” Congressman Mooney said in a statement. “Congress must hold the rogue DOJ accountable, and I support withholding funding to Jack Smith until the department ceases pushing its blatantly partisan two-tiered system of justice. These disgusting abuses of power will fail, and Donald Trump will be elected again in 2024.”

Trump took to Truth Social on Monday to again blast the underhanded Smith’s secret search warrant for his Twitter account.

“How dare lowlife prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, break into my former Twitter account without informing me and, indeed, trying to completely hide this atrocity from me. What could he possibly find out that is not already known. Just like the early morning raid of Mar-a-Lago! Why isn’t the DOJ raiding Crooked Joe Biden, the most CORRUPT (and Incompetent!) President in the history of the United States?” Trump wrote.
