As Tennessee Democrats reaped their reward for “creating disorder,” reactions cheered for the GOP to melt more snowflakes: “Now this is the kinda motion republicans need to be moving with.”
Instead of a meaningless censure or a promise of an investigation to get to the bottom of leftist antics, Republicans in the Volunteer State took decisive action Tuesday. In a letter from Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton (R) directed to Tennessee House Minority Leader Karen Camper (D), the Democrats were informed that their redistricting meltdown meant they would be ousted from all applicable committee seats.
Shared by The Federalist co-founder Sean Davis with the caption, “political terrorism will not be tolerated,” encouraging “National Republican take note that this is how you exercise power,” Sexton laid out Democrat actions including, “Interlocking arms in the well of the House; Blocking aisles on the House Floor; Instigating and encouraging disruptions of the legislative process in coordination with paid protestors and attendees in the gallery, including the distribution of earplugs to a member of your caucus; The use of prohibited props and noisemakers on the House Floor; Demonstrating a lack of respect toward fellow members seeking recognition to speak on legislation; and Flagrant disregard for the Permanent Rules of Order of the House.”

“As a result of their aim “at disrupting the democratic and legislative process and creating disorder … Members of the Democratic Caucus will receive individual letters removing them from all standing committees and subcommittees of the House, except where membership is required pursuant to Rule 65 of the House Rules.”
Rule 65 stipulates that the Minority Leader and Minority Caucus Chair are to be included on the Calendar and Rules Committee. Likewise, the Democratic Caucus Chair and Minority Leader or a designee are to serve on the Government Operations Committee.
Thursday, the redistricting vote brought chaos that included mobs of protesters and state Rep. Justin Pearson (D) allegedly lashing out at a State Trooper, calling him a “stupid motherf*cker.”
In response to Sexton’s letter, Camper claimed victimhood, “They have proven time and time again that they have little regard for precedent, fairness, or even the spirit of the law itself. They have abused the supermajority over and over again, changing the rules whenever it benefits them and punishing anyone who dares to challenge them.”
“But even with all that, this still hurts. It felt like being stabbed in the back, then having the knife pushed in deeper and turned to finish the job because I uncovered what I believe was a deliberate symbolic scheme behind the handling of debate during this extraordinary session,” she continued as she went on to allege time for debate was meant to nod to President Donald Trump, the Supreme Court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education and the year now-former Rep. Harold Ford Sr. (D-TN) was first elected to Congress.
Pearson, previously expelled in 2023 for breaking House decorum rules, claimed the removal from committees was equivalent to removing representation as he wrote, “Speaker of the TN House Cameroon Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on.”
“This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg,” he added.
Responses to his complaint about the removal ripped the performative politician, while others urged more actions like this from GOP majorities, “You earned that. You were free to act like a toddler, but not free from consequences.”

Wow, somebody is standing up against the commies/liberals?!! Can this really be happening? God bless all of you for standing up for America! I only wish the GOP in the House and Senate would stand for the American people who vote for them!

If all Republicans would act like this we’d get somewhere.
