‘Government bootlickers’ of Green Day swap out lyrics to bash ‘MAGA’ during NYE celebration

The annual New Year’s Eve bash on ABC momentarily left the merrymaking and stepped into politics during a song by punk rockers Green Day.

The iconic 80s band once again altered the lyrics of their classic protest song, “American Idiot,” to bash former President Donald Trump during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

Instead of singing “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda,”  lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong belted out, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” in the hit song.

The 2004 song was originally a statement against former President George W. Bush and the Iraq war.

The swapped-out lyrics:

Well, maybe I’m the f****t, America
I’m not a part of a MAGA agenda
Now everybody, do the propaganda
And sing along to the age of paranoia

The move was nothing new, though having it air during a primetime network event may have raised some concerns for ABC officials.

Back in 2019, Armstrong made the same dig at Trump and the MAGA movement during the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

The band also chanted “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA” during their song “Bang Bang” while performing at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles in 2016.

In 2023, the band used their 1997 “Nimrod” album cover along with Trump’s mug shot to launch a new selection of limited merchandise.
