New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s failed fascist affront against Elon Musk more than backfired when her own past gestures were brought to the fore.
Much like President Donald Trump had wasted no time in getting to business advancing the America First agenda, leftists jumped at the first opportunity to advance a hoax on Inauguration Day. Among those likening Musk’s hand motions to a Nazi salute, Ocasio-Cortez’s own hair-flip-filled rant against the tech titan couldn’t bury her past “repeated for emphasis and clarity.”
Taking to Instagram Live on Tuesday, the Squad member furthered her rhetoric about what “21st-century fascism is starting to look like” railing against the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
“This is the United States of America. And I don’t care what Elon Musk is doing behind a presidential seal. In this country, we hate Nazis. Kind of like a foundational, defining thing,” she said while repeatedly messing with her hair as she had done throughout the stream.
“Two of probably the most foundational, defining things about American history is that we beat the Confederates and we beat the Nazis. And I don’t know what side people may be on today, but I still am not rocking with anyone sympathetic to Nazis. And I will do that until I am six feet in the ground,” continued Ocasio-Cortez. “Like, kind of foundational to me as a human being. And so if you’re cool and want to defend the Sieg Heils and the Nazi salutes, all the, you know, whatever you want to do, that’s on you. I’m on the opposite side of that. I’m not with the Nazis. How about that?”

Unfortunately for the congresswoman, just as groups like the Anti-Defamation League had come out to defend Musk from the outlandish accusations concerning his gesture while speaking to Trump supporters at Capital One Arena Monday, her own record presented a different story as to what she was “cool” with.
Countering the ADL’s statement on Musk’s “awkward gesture,” Ocasio-Cortez stated, “Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity. People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now. You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear.”
Seeking comment, Libs of TikTok shared a four-second clip of the lawmaker caught doing the same motion, “Performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity,” opening the door for Musk to react, “Haha this is amazing.”

Adding another blow to the legislator, Fox News reported that Democratic voters were withdrawing their registration from the party after Ocasio-Cortez and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) had been among those standing against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025.
“Trans girls are girls!” she said from the House floor while downplaying the risks of males competing with females by asserting, “I don’t know about y’all, I don’t know who’s been to gym class lately, but girls, even if you only believe there’s only two genders, I’ve played co-ed sports all the time.”
Other arguments claimed it enables sexual predators the opportunity to target young girls with genital examinations, a point Rutgers law professor Gary Francione said went too far.
Speaking with Fox News Digital, the advocate for Democrat causes said, “That just made me very upset because it screamed out lack of integrity, lack of honesty. This is the way you fight battles? By trying to insult other people who oppose you and disagree with you and insinuate that they’re child molesters or pedophiles? It seems to me you’ve lost the game… I don’t know how they’re ever going to come back from this.”
Francione went on to state how registered Democrats he knows intended to leave the party over this as he himself had decided to do, and users on social media echoed his sentiment.
This was my turning point as well.

Meanwhile, in further calling out the leftist mentality, others on social media happily pointed out heroes of the party doing exactly what Musk was accused of doing without the smears and propaganda.
