Author J.K. Rowling can’t catch a break, even when she is trying to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Her most recent remarks that sent her trending on Twitter were a response to Scotland’s Gender Recognition Reform Bill amendments, which would change language and make gender reassignments easier. Rowling is an outspoken critic of the legislation, which has led many on the far-left side of the aisle to label her “transphobic” and a “TERF” (transgender exclusionary radical feminist.)
Identifying cases in which is it incredibly important to differentiate between genders, such as in the instance of those “seeking help after male violence/rape and incarcerated women,” Rowling tagged politicians Nicola Sturgeon who has been instrumental in trying to get the bill passed.
Exactly this. The law @NicolaSturgeon‘s trying to pass in Scotland will harm the most vulnerable women in society: those seeking help after male violence/rape and incarcerated women. Statistics show that imprisoned women are already far more likely to have been previously abused. https://t.co/LPN8cx1Vf4

She also poked at the Labour Party and threw in a bit of a “Harry Potter” reference as well.
Apparently, under a Labour government, today will become We Who Must Not Be Named Day.

When Sturgeon was asked about Rowling’s comments and concerns, the politician brushed them off in favor of placating the LGBT community.
“She’s clearly free to express her opinion, as am I, as is everybody. But that’s not what this debate is about,” Sturgeon said, claiming that the bill is supposed to make it “less traumatic and inhumane for trans people, one of the most stigmatized minorities in our society. It doesn’t give trans people any more rights, doesn’t give trans people one single additional right that they don’t have right now. Nor does it take away from women any of the current existing rights that women have under the Equalities Act.”
Given the sheer amount of opposition she’s faced for having her beliefs, a weaker celebrity may have caved to the pressure. But Rowling isn’t about to let that happen.
Yes, sweetheart. I’m staying right here on this hill, defending the right of women and girls to talk about themselves, their bodies and their lives in any way they damn well please. You worry about your legacy, I’ll worry about mine 😉 https://t.co/wLekwpMQEe

I’m a woman and I have a daughter. I don’t feel threatened by transwomen. I stand with them. I feel threatened by bad men, but why are we letting them tear us apart on this issue? We are women (Inc. trans), we can work through the thorny issues.

Literally no one is telling women or girls that they can’t talk about their bodies or themselves? I don’t understand how you can make this into some fight against women that doesn’t exist. You are on the wrong side of history and this is what you’re going to be remembered for.

Trans women = Women
There are more ppl who could join you on that hill if you only were to listen. We all want equality.

I wouldn’t worry about your legacy either, it’s already ruined. You’ll be spoken of in future in the same way as we talk about historical bigots today.

Why? Why is it so important to you that a woman be defined as someone with a uterus?

Despite the outspoken opposition to her ideology, the world-famous author isn’t without her supporters:
