Sparks flew in an exchange between Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) over a DHS worker’s anti-Semitic social media activity.
The embattled top immigration official made a trip to Capitol Hill where he was smacked around like a piñata over his dismal job of controlling the southern border which with the very serious threat of Islamic terrorism in the U.S. on the rise, no looks to be more of a failure than ever.
But the typically unflappable bureaucrat blew his cool during a sequence when the Missouri Republican put him on the spot over the social media posts of Nejwa Ali, a DHS asylum officer who was suspended for celebrating the Hamas terrorist paragliders and virulently anti-Semitic remarks about Israel.

“An employee of the Department of Homeland Security who posted these comments on October the seventh, that’s not all she posted. Hawley said, displaying the Jew-hating government employee’s post of the paraglider.
“She also posted this graphic, the senator continued. “Now this is a fake graphic, I want to be clear, but I think we understand it.” This is a paraglider, a Hamas paraglider, depicted here with a machine gun flying into Israel.”
“She posted it under her online alias with the celebratory ‘Free Palestine.’ Mr. Secretary what — what’s going on here?” Hawley asked. “Is this — is this typical of people who work at DHS?”
“This is an asylum and immigration officer who is posting these frankly, pro-genocidal slogans and images on the day that Israelis are being slaughtered in their beds,” had said. “What have you done about this?”
Mayorkas responded, “One of the things I’d like to say to you, number one, your question, to suggest that is emblematic of the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security is despicable.”
“I’m sorry… what have you… this person works for the Department of Homeland Security,” Hawley shouted. “Have you fired her?”
“That was one of four answers,” Mayorkas shot back, waving his fingers in the air.
“Have you fired her?” Hawley persisted. “Have you fired her? Don’t come to this hearing room when Israel has been invaded and Jewish students and Jewish students are barricaded in libraries in this country and cannot be escorted out because they are threatened for their lives,” he said, referring to a scary incident at a New York City college last week.
“You have employees who are celebrating genocide and you are saying it’s despicable for me to ask the question?” Hawley demanded.
Nejwa Ali said the following terrorist comment:
“Fuck Israel, the government, and its military. Are you ready for your downfall?”

The embattled DHS chief countered by playing the victim, braying that he is the son of a survivor of The Holocaust.
“Number two: Senator Hawley takes an adversarial approach to me in this question, and perhaps he doesn’t know my own background,” Mayorkas countered.” Perhaps he does not know that I am the child of a Holocaust survivor.”
“Perhaps he does not know that my mother lost almost all her family at the hands of the Nazis. And so I find his adversarial tone to be entirely misplaced. I find it to be disrespectful of me and my heritage,” the secretary added. “I do not expect an apology. But I did want to say what I just articulated.”
The secretary did not provide a real answer to Senator Hawley about his employee’s anti-Semitism and what he is doing about it and the hearing moved on to another topic.
