‘Hero’ Cory Mills: Our team has rescued 13 Americans from Haiti in second successful mission

Americans of both political parties have grown so accustomed to being disappointed in their D.C. lawmakers that when one of them does something truly heroic, it’s reason to stop the proverbial presses.

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran, has gone full Rambo, rescuing another 13 Americans, including a two-month-old baby and a three-year-old girl, from the hellish chaos that currently is Haiti.

Less than a week after Mills organized a mission to evacuate 10 Americans from the Have Faith Orphanage, he returned to the Caribbean nation and brought more than a dozen more safely home.

“It’s with great pride I announce that our team successfully conducted another rescue of 13 Americans out of [Port-au-Prince] Haiti,” Mills wrote early Monday morning on X. “Our team has now successfully rescued and evacuated more Americans than Biden and his entire administration.”

“Americans deserve support from their government,” the Congressman stated. “Not the pattern of abandonment this administration has shown.”

“Like many, the [Americans] made all attempts to work through the [U.S.] government but with no success,” Mills told the Washington Examiner of the citizens his team evacuated. “I’ve now rescued more Americans from Haiti than all the Biden administration. It’s not the first time if we account for the 255 Americans I rescued in October of 2023, and before that, the Americans from Afghanistan in 2021.”

With the resignation of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the wake of the crisis, Haitian gangs and prison escapees now control the nation’s food sources, leaving more than a million Haitians at risk of famine, according to aid groups.

On Friday, Mills blasted the Biden administration for forcing him to “shame” them into responding to global crises, including the one blazing in Haiti.

“You have to almost shame them into doing their job, or to at least shame them into the point where they actually will just support efforts by American citizens who are willing to go over and conduct these rescues and help with the consulate processing once they come out,” he said, according to the Examiner.

Thankfully, Mills isn’t alone in his efforts to rescue stranded Americans.

“American-based nonprofit organizations such as Project Dynamo have also launched rescue operations for U.S. citizens trapped overseas, including rescue missions in Haiti,” the Examiner reports.

Meanwhile, the State Department is chartering its first flight out of Cap-Haitian, it announced on Saturday, according to the outlet.

Americans who can navigate the dangerous journey from wherever they are hiding to the city’s airport may yet get a lift out of the imploding nation courtesy of the U.S. government.

“The airport is located approximately 130 miles north of the country’s capital of Port-au-Prince,” the Examiner reports, “and the highways are largely blocked and controlled by gangs.”

Back on X, Mills is being cheered as a “hero.”

“Your willingness to always put Americans first doesn’t go unnoticed,” one user told Mills. “You’re an amazing representative and human.

“This is what America First looks like.”
