‘He’s got to say that’: NY Rep throws ice cold water on Biden’s reported 2024 presidential announcement

While signs indicate Democrats may get routed in the midterm elections, some have begun looking at 2024 and reports that President Joe Biden plans to run again seem don’t seem like much of a choice as one Republican suggested, “Well he’s got to say that because they don’t have anyone else to run other than Kamala Harris.”

As the oldest president to take office at 78, the now 79-year-old Biden would be 82 at the beginning of a second term if reelected. That fact didn’t seem to impede the questionable cognizance of the commander-in-chief who, according to two sources familiar with a meeting between the president and former President Barack Obama, intends to run again.

The Hill reported that one of the sources informed them Biden “wants to run and he’s clearly letting everyone know.” When appearing on Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America” Rep. Claudia Tenney (R – NY)  didn’t hold back on how she viewed the decision.

“Well he’s got to say that because they don’t have anyone else to run other than Kamala Harris who may not even get the nomination,” Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) told Newsmax.

Tenney wasn’t alone with that perspective as The Hill’s source said something similar about Vice President Kamala Harris’ chance at being a nominee, “People think she has no shot, which has to keep him as the guy.”

The New York legislator went on to point out that age wasn’t an issue for her, “Honestly, it has nothing to do with age. We know that Biden is cognitively impaired. He’s had some kind of issues that were strokes or whatever, and so it shows and he’s unable to really conduct the job. He doesn’t project strength or leadership around the world which is why we’re seeing the entire world in chaos.”

“He’s making terrible decisions; we have huge inflation, which is a top issue; crime, which is a huge issue; the border,” Tenney went on to note explaining that all states are border states because the crisis impacts the entire country.

Despite ever-worsening poll numbers amongst Americans of whom many don’t even believe Biden will run again, Democratic strategist Basil Smikle, director of Hunter College’s public policy program argued, “He can recover. A lot will depend on the outcome of the midterms. If Democrats don’t fare very well, he’ll be going into 2024 from a position of weakness, if you will.”

Smikle echoed Tenney’s sentiments as well when the Democrat noted, “Biden is the best choice, but there’s a concern that the Democrats don’t have a strong bench.” As the first call-up on the Democrats’ bench Harris, Smikle believes, is being underutilized, “Is she being used to push out Democrats’ messaging effectively in key areas? A lot of Democrats don’t see it but would welcome it.”

The Democrats may be in worse straits than they’ve been letting on if Biden’s reported assessment is correct. The Hill’s source expressed, “I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump. I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor.”

Tenney touched on the genuine trouble the opposition is in when she remarked, “It all kind of really went downhill with the debacle in Afghanistan, the tragedy of 13 service members killed needlessly because of his terrible decision in Afghanistan, and by the way which he has no regret. He said this is the way it would have been.”

“This is the most disastrous administration probably in the modern era, and yet he’s gotta say he’s gonna run again…The Democrats are scrambling,” Tenney concluded.
