‘He’s his own god’: Fauci says no ‘need’ to practice his Catholic religion due to ‘personal ethics’

Dr. Anthony Fauci is facing criticism for admitting he no longer actively practices his Catholic faith for “complicated reasons.”

He offered up the admission during an interview earlier this month with the BBC.

Listen:

“You don’t practice anymore, do you?” interviewer Katty Kay asked me.

“I don’t,” he replied.

“Why?” Kay pressed.

“A number of complicated reasons. First of all, I think my own personal ethics on life are enough to keep me going on the right path, and I think that there are enough negative aspects about the organizational church that you’re very well aware of,” Fauci responded.

“I’m not against it. I identify myself as a Catholic. I was raised, I was baptized, I was confirmed, I was married in the church, my children were baptized in the church, but as far as practicing it, it seems almost like a pro forma thing that I don’t really need to do,” he added.

His words prompted an outcry from his critics, some of accused him of thinking of himself as a God.

“This is the kind of thinking that ensures one is heading down the wrong one. Fauci’s lies during COVID further prove the point. Set yourself up as your own god and you’ll soon enough find you have feet of clay,” one critic wrote.

“I think we all know who Anthony Fauci worships as a god, and he finds that deity in the mirror,” another critic wrote.

Some critics referenced Fauci’s narcissistic habit of proclaiming himself the so-called “science.” Others noted how he’d brazenly lied to Congress about his funding of gain of function research. Neither of these behaviors is in any way Christian-like.

One critic also pointed to President Joe Biden, another ostensible Catholic who lives a life and promotes ideologies completely anathema to the Catholic faith.

For example, around the start of the year, a reporter tried to explain to the president that Catholic bishops were demanding that federal tax dollars not be used to fund abortions. But the president stubbornly refused to acknowledge the truth.

“No, they are not all doing that, nor is the pope,” he said.

Listen:

But that was a blatant lie.

“Pope Francis has been a strict opponent of abortion in all cases. The pontiff has compared abortion to ‘hiring a hitman’ and said humanity should ‘leave killing to the animals,'” Fox News notes.

At the time, the president was called out by Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler.

“Mr. Biden can’t be allowed to twist the words of Pope Francis in this way. I implore the Vatican press office to emphatically clarify that Pope Francis rightly calls abortion murder. It is time to denounce Biden’s fake Catholicism,” Strickland tweeted.
