‘I don’t remember the one they did with Biden’: SNL takes predictable cheap shot

Saturday Night Live (SNL) has once again infuriated Republican viewers with its cold open bashing the president.

The once-revered icon of nighttime comedy has become something of a political soapbox that appears to largely favor one side. The show opted to weigh in on the current political drama playing out in the Middle East following Operation Epic Fury and the resulting rise in oil prices. The sketch, titled “Trump’s Gas Prices,” begins with a “family” on a road trip where the parents dramatically discuss whether or not to fill the car up “all the way” with gas.

Eventually, “President Donald Trump” (James Austin Johnson) runs into frame to address the audience.

“Hi, it’s me, Donald Trump. You might remember me from such campaign promises as lower gas prices and no more wars,” Johnson said. “Psych! We love to make promises because a promise is just a lie that hasn’t happened yet. But now it has — and gas costs like a million, billion dollars a gallon.”

He also joked about the stock market dipping and blamed the increase at the pump on the Iranian strikes.

“Gas prices are very high because of the war with Iran, which is where they make gas,” the actor said. “I wish someone had told me that.”
