Ilhan Omar is ‘glad’ a special counsel is investigating Biden’s classified docs and it smells a little fishy

When Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar says she’s “glad” a special counsel has been appointed to investigate the Obama-era classified documents found in President Joe Biden’s possession, you know something is hinky.

“I’m glad that there is a special prosecutor that’s been appointed to investigate this,” Omar told MSNBC’s Symone Sanders-Townsend on Saturday.

“You are glad that there’s a special prosecutor,” the host replied. “Tell me why.”

It was an ideal setup that allowed the least-liked member of the Squad to regurgitate the official narrative on the bombshell discoveries that MSNBC is all too happy to help spin.

It’s not a terribly clever narrative, but to be fair, the Biden White House has only had a few days to craft it.

It goes something like this: President Biden did an oopsie and, because he is so filled with integrity, he immediately moved to remedy his innocent mistake, unlike the big bad Orange man, who all but held up the National Archives and stole, like a desperate drug addict in need of a fix, classified documents and did everything he could to cover it up. And now, the Republicans, who are drunk with the power of a majority, are weaponizing the House of Representatives to get even with POTUS.

It’s absurd.

It ignores every fact of the case.

And Democrats appear convinced that, if MSNBC allows guests to repeat it often enough, the American people will swallow it, the way many of them swallowed the “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax.

Ilhan said she is “glad” about the appointment of former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur as special counsel because, “any time there is a deviance in regards to security protocols, that should be taken serious, it should be investigated.”

So, Democrats are totally encouraging the investigation because they are all about law, order, and transparency.

That alone would be a hard sell, but the notion that Republicans are somehow the bad guys in this situation jumps the shark, Fonzi-style.

“What I find interesting is that Republicans — who have defended Trump after he literally stole classified documents, refused to turn them over, lied about having them, made up some story about how he declassified them, had to have his house raided in order for those documents to be found — are now only interested in investigating Biden, who has cooperated, who his own staff and former staff have themselves turned these documents in,” Omar continued.

“So you have to understand, right? Republicans aren’t really interested in upholding the law, in following security protocols,” she stated without a shred of evidence to back up her claim. “What they’re interested in is playing a political game and now only wanting to investigate Biden.”

Now, were it just Omar spouting this nonsense, we might be tempted to roll our eyes and dismiss her.

But, also on Saturday, MSNBC analyst Fernand Amandi came to the same cooked-up conclusion, as American Wire News has reported.

Amandi told MSNBC host Cori Coffin that the Biden scandal will be a “fiasco” for Republicans.

“I mean, if you want a quick metaphor, this, with the classified documents and Vice President Biden, it’s the equivalent of, you know, driving on a country rural road. You maybe take your eyes off the car in front of you for a second to hit the car and then you pull over. Nobody’s watching. You call the police, you call the insurance, you report it, you fill out the paperwork and you move on in your life,” he said. “By comparison, what Trump has done is the equivalent of someone with ten DUIs driving in the middle of downtown without a driver’s license, crashing into the police station lobby, and then walking away from the scene of the crime saying that your rights are being impeded on.”

As for the Republicans?

“I think it’s a fiasco for them,” he declared. “And I think, again, any American voter who is a non-MAGA base voter will see this for what it is. And the more they draw this contrast and try and create what is clearly a false equivalency, Cori, I think it is going to blow up in their face.”

“And this is why the Republican embrace of Trump continues to be problematic,” he stated. “Had they distanced themselves from him after the January 6 insurrection, which coincidentally was led by President Trump, they might have the moral authority now to go after Biden with this optical problem. Since that doesn’t exist, it only draws a contrast, which I don’t think Republicans in Congress are going to benefit from. When you have Donald Trump on the other side of what is being held up for someone to follow the rule of law, that’s always going to be a problem.”

So, you got it, America?

Biden is very, very good, and Trump is very, very bad, and that is what determines whether you can take classified documents home and shove them in your garage for six years.

Never mind that the documents at the Penn Biden Center were discovered before the midterm elections and no one bothered to mention it until after the elections were over. Never mind that Biden didn’t immediately hand over the materials in his garage or that he sent his lawyers, who have no security clearance, to rifle through them.

Orange. Man. Bad.

And if you dare to question it, you’re bad, too.
