Hunter Biden and a couple of his siblings made a stunning appearance Thursday evening at a state dinner with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What made the appearance of President Joe Biden’s son at the state dinner so remarkable was that it came only days after he accepted a sweetheart plea agreement that critics said was highly unusual for the crimes he committed.
His appearance also came around the same time that a new report broke that he’d “invoked President Joe Biden’s name in a text message, threatening his Chinese business partner to come down on him with their full weight if the business partner did not fulfill his ‘commitment,'” as reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
Yet despite these scandals, Hunter was seen living the high life Thursday evening:

According to CNN, Hunter’s presence at the event indicated “a notable show of support” from his father, “whose long-standing loyalty to his son has been on full display” amid the current round of scandals.
“During a meeting with Modi in the Oval Office earlier Thursday, the president flashed a thumbs up when a reporter asked how his son Hunter Biden was feeling. And on Tuesday, he told reporters he was ‘very proud’ of his son,” CNN notes.
Also present at the state dinner Thursday were Hunter’s wife, Melissa; the president’s brother, James; the president’s granddaughter Naomi; and Naomi’s husband and daughter.
According to the Daily Mail, two of the top Republicans investigating Hunter — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise — were also present, as was Attorney General Merrick Garland, the man ultimately responsible for the younger Biden’s sweetheart plea agreement.
“It continues to show the two-tier system in America. If you are the president’s leading political opponent, the DOJ tries to literally put you in jail and give you prison time. But if you are the president’s son, you get a sweetheart deal,” McCarthy had said earlier in the week about Hunter’s plea deal.
When asked by Politico about the prospect of attending the dinner with both the younger Biden and AG Garland present, McCarthy reportedly “dodged” the question.
“I look forward to taking my daughter-in-law for the very first time to the White House. Every state dinner I brought another member of my family,” he said.
This is the second time the two men will have come face to face. Both previously attended the president’s first state dinner in December. At one point during that dinner, McCarthy reportedly brushed off a question about whether it’d be awkward attending the dinner with Hunter.
“I’m at dinner with my mom so I’m going to have a great time,” he replied.

Regarding Hunter’s legal woes, he’s reportedly due to appear in court on July 26th.
“U.S. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden will make an initial appearance in federal court in Delaware on July 26 to face misdemeanor tax and gun-related charges, a court filing showed on Wednesday,” Reuters reported.
“The Justice Department said on Tuesday that Hunter Biden, 53, has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of willfully failing to pay income taxes and to enter into an agreement that could avert a conviction on a gun-related charge. He was not expected to face jail time in his guilty plea.”
The sweetheart plea agreement he received prompted massive backlash given all the less famous people who’ve been hauled off to jail for less. Critics re-upped their complaints upon seeing Hunter partying like a rock star at the White House. According to one critic, it was as if the White House was “rubbing” its corruption in everybody’s faces:
