Jasmine Crockett drops out of Democrat leadership race after humiliating ranking

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett dropped out in humiliation after coming in last in her bid to become the next ranking member of the GOP-controlled House Oversight Committee.

“It was clear by the numbers that my style of leadership is not exactly what they were looking for, and so I didn’t think that it was fair for me to then push forward and try to rebuke that,” she told reporters Tuesday morning, according to Fox News.

She made the remarks after a House Democrat panel voted Monday night on their preference for ranking member. The loudmouthed Democrat reportedly came in dead last.

“They were clear that I was the one that made the least sense in their minds,” she continued in her remarks Tuesday. “I accept that, and I think that you have to make sure that you are going to be able to work with leadership if you are going to go into a leadership position.”

“I think the people may be disappointed, but at the end of the day, we’ve got to move forward in this country, we’ve got to move forward for this world, and I don’t want to be an impediment,” she added.

She also published a video on social media expounding further on what had happened:

This time, she suggested that she’d come in last because she’d been accused of something.

“I went through the first leg of this race today, and there had been recent questions about something that just wasn’t true because I’m always loud and proud about everything I have to say,” she explained. “But it did cause me some issues for sure.”

“So I placed last in the recommendation from the Steering Policy [Committe], so with that I am not going to caucus for a vote tomorrow. And you know, those who have decided that they want to stay in the race to pursue the position, I am going to gracefully bow out because it just kinda is what it is,” she added.

Sometime on Tuesday, House Democrats cast an official vote on the ranking member position. The winner turned out to be California Rep. Robert Garcia, a former illegal alien.

Crockett’s bid for ranking member started earlier this month with a Dear Colleague letter to her fellow Democrats.

“Our country is in an existential crisis driven by an out-of-control Executive with a flagrant disregard for our Constitution, our way of governance, and our very way of life as citizens of a democratic republic,” she wrote in the letter, as reported by Politico.

“We must pull back the curtain on the unmitigated chaos under Trump 2.0 and translate our findings to the American people in a way they can digest. … Our work cannot be solely reactive. We must also be strategic in laying the groundwork to win back the House majority. Every hearing, every investigation, every public moment must serve the dual purpose of accountability and must demonstrate why a House Democratic majority is essential for America’s future,” she continued.

The vacancy for ranking member reportedly opened up after the recent death of the late Rep. Gerry Connolly.

Crockett has been one of the Oversight Committee’s most notorious members because of her frequent outbursts.
