The “Sesame Street” Muppet known as Elmo has been busy attracting a lot of love and “hate” over his unusual decision this week to get vaccinated.
The love’s been coming from the likes of first lady Jill Biden, who was beyond thrilled that Elmo decided to get vaccinated.
“Our friend Elmo and his dad, Louie, talked to their pediatrician and learned that getting the vaccine is the best way to keep Elmo and the whole @SesameStreet neighborhood safe and healthy! So, reach out to your pediatrician to get the answers you need. 💕,” she tweeted Friday afternoon.
The tweet was posted in response to Elmo announcing on Twitter that he’d just been vaccinated.

This is sick. But considering the source…..🤷♀️

The vast majority of parents care about their kids health and will NOT be taking your or Elmo’s medical advice about this shot.

1. Children are at virtually zero risk from Covid.
2. The shots don’t stop infection or transmission.
3. This is vile propaganda and you should be ashamed.

The “hate” has meanwhile been coming from the likes of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who for his part doesn’t appreciate the otherwise lovable Muppet being exploited to spread “government propaganda” to impressionable children.
The alleged “beef” between him and Elmo started after “Sesame Street” posted a video on Twitter on Tuesday showing Elmo and his father talking about the young Muppet’s just-received vaccination.
“It’s okay to have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children! Elmo’s dad Louie talked to their pediatrician, and learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep him and his whole neighborhood safe and healthy! #CaringForEachOther,” the show’s Twitter account wrote as a caption.

Cruz clapped back a couple hours later.
“Thanks, @sesamestreet for saying parents are allowed to have questions! You then have @elmo aggressively advocate for vaccinating children UNDER 5. But you cite ZERO scientific evidence for this. Learn more,” he wrote.
His tweet linked to a press release he’d published earlier in the month. The release contained a series of questions that both Cruz and several of his colleagues had (and reportedly still have) for the Biden administration’s top COVID officials.
The release also included the following statement from the senator: “We are in our third year with COVID-19, and we know vastly more about the virus now than we did in 2020. One of the most important things we know is that this virus poses minimal risk for children. Before the FDA approves an Emergency Use Authorization for a children’s vaccine, parents should be able to see the data and paperwork they would use to justify this decision. This is the least the FDA can do for families in Texas and across the country so parents can make the best decisions for their children.”

Hilariously, his alleged “beef” with Elmo quickly went viral, spawning dozens of establishment media pieces about him “feuding with Elmo.”
Cruz responded to the reporting in a new tweet posted Friday.
“Corporate media having fun pretending I’m in a fight with the red furry muppet
@elmo Nope. My disagreement is with the woke people with their hands up his a** using a puppet to spread dishonest government propaganda to toddlers,” he bluntly tweeted.

And there it is. He doesn’t have a problem with Elmo. Who would? He has a problem with the character’s literal puppet masters and their attempt to use the monster character to encourage children to obtain a vaccine that he believes they don’t need.
FYI, many experts agree with Cruz …
