Jon Stewart accepts Elon Musk’s terms for live interview, then pulls a Zelenskyy to sabotage the deal

A “very interesting conversation” could be in the works after a comedian, bristling over a “propagandist” label, agreed to host Elon Musk “unedited.”

On last week’s installment of “The Daily Show” hosted by Jon Stewart, a tirade over the focus of the Department of Government Efficiency led to him smashing a mug, injuring his hand. Stewart’s return Monday, with a childproof cup, found him open to the idea of interviewing the president’s special adviser while defending what he believed to be a “bullsh*t” claim.

Responding directly to a post on X where Musk had agreed, “I will do it if the show airs unedited,” Stewart told his audience, “So, I thought about it and after a prayerful week with my family — well, a family…but after thinking about his offer, I thought, you know, hey, that’s actually how the in-studio interviews normally air, is unedited. So, sure. We’d be delighted!”

“As a matter of fact, let me sweeten or unsweeten the pot,” he continued. “The interview can be 15 minutes, it can be an hour, it can be two hours — whatever. I’ll be honest, I don’t think this network makes any other programming. So we could do whatever the f*ck we want as long as we wrap before the new season of ‘South Park’ which comes out in like May or June of 2026.”

“So, I am game. I think it’ll be a very interesting conversation,” added the host.

However, having addressed his rant that decried firing federal workers and insisted the primary focus should have been on subsidies, Stewart bristled at Musk’s response to his podcast comments where he himself had referred to DOGE’s approach as “ideologically antagonistic” while also misrepresenting the approach of the accountability emails.

“Jon Stewart is much more a propagandist than it would seem,” asserted Musk, prompting the host to respond, “You give me too little credit.”

“Again, the guy who custom-made his own ‘Dark MAGA’ hat, that he wears to opine in the Oval Office with the president who he spent $270 million to elect, thinks I’m just too partisan,” continued Stewart as he attempted to compare a private citizen’s opinions to a program slanting current events.

“Look, Elon, I do have some criticism about DOGE. I support, in general, the idea of efficiency and delivering better services to the American public in cheaper and more efficient ways, and if you wanna come on and talk about it on the show, great,” he went on. “If you don’t want to, sure.”

“But can we just drop the pretense that you won’t do it because I don’t measure up to the standards of neutral discourse that you demand and display at all times? Because, quite frankly, that’s bullsh*t,” concluded Stewart.

At the time of this post, Musk had not responded to the invite or comments.
