Juan Williams leans into race baiting core with latest Hill piece: ‘Trump’s idea of competence — only white men need apply’

Juan Williams is either very unhappy with President Donald Trump’s assault on so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) — or he just can’t stop the uncontrollable urge to call Republicans racist at every turn.

“The Five’s” former co-host is so obsessed that he penned a whole column claiming that the purpose of Trump’s ‘attacks’ was to make white men the standard bearers for competence and the headline says it all: Trump’s idea of ‘competence’ — only white men need apply

Except, Williams mused, the white men that Trump’s been choosing are allegedly anything but competent. As an example, Williams pointed to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“Stephen A. Smith, the ESPN sports commentator, was not trying to be funny when he made a … stinging point about Trump’s promotion of Hegseth,” he wrote.

“Hegseth’s rise to ‘defense secretary of the United States overseeing 3.5 million people — that’s not qualified,’ Smith said. He implied that Hegseth was a classic example of identity politics benefiting unqualified white men, such as those in Trump’s cabinet,” Williams added.

Never mind that Hegseth is an active-duty military veteran with a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, the recipient of two Bronze Star Medals, and the writer of a best-selling book on the military.

Williams continued his column by bringing up Darren Beattie, a Trump administration official who once said that the promotion of DEI is nothing but an example of “coddling the feelings of women and minorit[ies] and demoralizing competent white men.”

“Can anyone imagine Trump hiring a black man who made such a prejudiced statement about whites?” Williams then asked.

No, but one can easily imagine former President Joe Biden doing exactly that multiple, multiple, multiple times.

Take Kelisa Wing, a former Biden Defense Department official with an extensive history of writing disparaging remarks about white people and their so-called “caudacity.”

After her tweets came to light in 2023, she was merely reassigned and NOT even kicked out of the Biden administration.

Moving on, Williams then cited several dubious polls to claim that the majority of Americans support the blatantly racist practices that constitute DEI and think President Trump is the real racist.

The former Fox News co-host continued by claiming that “even for Trump’s supporters,” “it requires blinders not to see racism in Trump’s actions.”

“It is disappointing for many Trump loyalists when he halts Justice Department efforts to reform police departments facing charges of racist brutality,” he wrote. “Blindness to racism is a must to look away as Trump wipes out a 1965 order calling for government contractors to end discrimination in hiring against women, blacks, Latinos, and other minority groups.”

“President Lyndon Johnson had signed that order the year after Congress passed the Civil Rights Act because he said blacks remained burdened by a history of not being given equal opportunity,” he added.

Never mind that it’s NOT 1965 and blacks are no longer discriminated against in any way, shape, or form in contemporary America. If anything, it’s whites and Asians who are actively being discriminated against by racist DEI policies such as affirmative action.

Williams then turned to smearing the president.

“Sixty years later, Trump ordered all federal workers tied to diversity programs to be put on leave,” he wrote. “His call for ‘Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing,’ led the Air Force to stop showing training videos celebrating the historic work of the black pilots during World War II.”

But the president NEVER once said anything about stopping the Air Force from teaching pilots about the Tuskegee Airmen. If anything, it’s strongly suspected a “deep state” liberal entrenched within the Air Force purposefully made this decision to make Trump look back.

Williams concluded his column by calling on the spirit of William F. Buckley Jr.

“The iconic conservative writer William F. Buckley Jr. recognized the dangers of reactionary politics and resisted the racist, anti-Semitic forces of the John Birch Society, which attempted to hijack the Republican Party in the 1960s,” he wrote. “Where is the Bill Buckley of this generation — willing to call out these racially incendiary games as a danger to the republic?”
