A journalist’s investigation into controversial school curricula, even in conservative bastions, left him with one key takeaway: “Get your kid the heck out of traditional public schools.”

The Orwellian use of language among progressive leaders has been well documented, and so it stands to reason that those among the lower ranks in the hierarchy would employ the same methods to attain their end goals. Adam Guillette, the president of Accuracy in Media, joined Fox News host Jesse Watters Friday to discuss what his investigation found with specifics from Columbus, Ohio school districts.
After the “Jesse Watters Primetime” host aired clips from Guillette’s video where an administrative assistant detailed how they “trick them, (parents),” and a diversity, equity and inclusion director relayed an Overton Window style nudge toward their objective, he asked his guest if he was surprised by the findings.
“At this point, I’ve been in over 150 school districts across the country, and we saw the same thing again and again and again,” the journalist replied, “and we didn’t go to Berkeley, California, or Boulder, Colorado. We went to red states like Florida and we find the same social justice, critical race theory everywhere we go.”
When asked by Watters what could be done, Guillette suggested that to start, “Get your kid the heck out of traditional public schools. I was in a 3-1 Republican-t0-Democrat county in rural Tennessee and had an administrator brag about how progressive their curriculum was from an equity point of view. That’s how bad it is.”
“These aren’t one-dimensional villains. They mean well,” he expressed.
Even though many districts don’t have laws prohibiting the teaching of CRT, the journalist added, “They’re happy to break the law because they think it’s in the best interest of every child to learn about social justice and systemic racism and how capitalism is inherently racist.”
An example of how these ideologues have endeavored to circumvent the concerns of parents was given in simple word selection. “Instead of talking about ‘privilege,’ they now call it ‘circumstance.’ They started teaching Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) as a Trojan horse for critical race theory in math classes. And in some states when parents caught on to that, they started calling that something else. It’s an endless game of whack-a-mole and these pros are always gonna stay one step ahead of the parents.”
Guillette’s video focused heavily on Matthew Boaz, whom he referred to as an “equity officer” at the Upper Arlington school district in Columbus who pointed out that deceptive language was also used to circumvent questioning with white lies that misrepresented the broader concerns of parents who don’t want their children to be indoctrinated.
The journalist described the role of individuals like Boaz as “highly paid, non-classroom positions focused exclusively on pushing critical race theory into the classes. We have them in my state of Florida. They have them everywhere.”
One administrator even admitted to Guillette that her school district had utilized COVID funds to hire those types of employees to further their mission to get diversity, inclusion and equity into the classrooms. His investigation concluded with his opinion that the only viable solution to correct the system came in the form of education dollars being linked directly to the individual student, not a system, thus allowing each child the ability to escape broken government-run schools.
